Young Spice
Bergamot Blossom comes across as a bold spicy fresh scent, to my nose more sustainable on a man than a woman (in general, I do not share my gender observations but given the name of the fragrance might be somewhat off putting to a man, I am here to say "give it a try boys!"). Very hard for me to tease out a solitary bergamot note in this concoction, but what I do get is an overall sense of high quality ingredients and high concentration absolute of labdanum & bergamot which give an almost 'oily' and slightly boozy impression. I see this as not particularly mind blowing stuff, but eminently wearable and well constructed. The sillage is about 8-12 inches (20 cm+) off my skin for well over 4 hours. So if you're balking at the aristocratic price tag, consider that this is good strong long lasting - like Grapa versus Pinot Grigio, for example. This has the potential to be a day into evening transition scent, as it opens up further after the first hours into a bit more resinous and sultry spiciness. Bergamot blossom could easily be somebody's effortlessly stylish year round signature because I definitely would wear this more in the Fall and Winter versus Spring and Summer and many others have rated this as more of a Spring and Summer scent- so year round, for sure. Bergamot Blossom's fresh spicy top reminds me a little bit of D&G Anthology "Le Fou" with out the violet, juniper and minus the woody base notes. It seems to be a modern streamlined eclectic take on the traditionally complex bergamot compositions...not bad at all.

Bergamot in Perfection
Bergamot Blossom always brings a delighted smile to my face right after spraying it on. Alongside other citrus fruits, the bergamot is immediately present and lasts all the way to the late dry down. Despite the name, I can't imagine that the blossoms were used here, as the scent is typically derived from the peels of the bergamot. The name likely hints at the inherent floral quality of bergamot, a floral aspect that is further supported by neroli.

Allspice, pepper, and thyme as spicy and herbal notes? It seems to me that a hint of lavender (or perhaps rosemary) has been used for rounding out the composition. Overall, it remains bergamot-heavy, citrusy-floral in perfect balance with a warmer base of moss-musk cushions that completely avoids vanilla and sweetness. It's nice that the citrus notes, as is often the case with other Cologne-inspired scents (especially those with orange oil), do not fade into the base.

Although there is no black tea aroma involved, Bergamot Blossom should appeal to anyone who appreciates Earl Grey tea for its bergamot scent. The longevity is incredibly good for the genre, although the sillage is not outstanding.

Actually, I don't want to analyze and dissect Bergamot Blossom; I just want to enjoy, admire, dream, relax, and at the same time recharge my energy. I give it a perfect 100%.

Do you know the land where the lemons bloom?
…the alarm clock rings, oh no, it can't be, yawn, I stumble sleepily into the kitchen, outside it is still pitch dark, I am not really awake yet.
So quickly I brew a pot of black tea (nothing works without it), cut a fresh lemon, and: what a wonderful scent, I am awake, wide awake, can hardly get enough of this glorious fragrance.

“Oh what a wonderful morning, oh what a wonderful day
I got a beautiful feelin' everything's goin' my way”

This great song by Rosemary Clooney immediately comes to mind.

I love the aroma of lemons above all, their freshness, fruitiness I always find beautiful.
It's as if a switch in my brain is flipped to good mood.

No wonder I like Bergamot Blossom. I received a sample from Joley (thank you very much!) and was immediately captivated by this beautiful scent.

In my search for more information about the fragrance, I found the following fragrance pyramid:

Top: Bergamot, Blood Orange, Lemon
Heart: Tunisian Neroli
Base: Musk

The opening is briefly a bit piercing/sharp, then wonderfully citrusy, pure lemon, softened by bergamot, which is very noticeable.
The fragrance quickly develops into a pleasantly warm tone, yet very fresh, subtly with present depth.
The top note lasts quite a while, becoming a bit spicier, increasingly gentler, softer through the neroli, very beautifully rounded and harmonious.
Before the neroli becomes too dominant, it is tamed by the musk, nestled in citrus notes.
The musk becomes a bit powdery, even slightly musty (I can't think of a better description), by no means unpleasant. I really like that.
At the very end, Bergamot Blossom becomes creamy-soft, a slight spiciness is added, I think I can detect a very delicate licorice note.

The longevity of the fragrance is surprisingly good, the sillage acceptable.
A wonderful scent for the warmer season, which would gladly move in with me if it weren't so difficult to obtain.
Because if I'm correctly informed, Kate Middleton, the current Duchess of Cambridge, wore this perfume on her wedding day and triggered a run on the fragrance. (I still like it :-))

Addendum: Joley pointed out to me that it was not this scent that "Kate" wore, but "White Gardenia Petals" (which certainly fits better for a wedding?!)

Spicy bergamot gives the freshness a certain something, then you get lost in generic sameness, and the freshness is gone.
