Lemons that come out of the tap?
Hi guys, how are you? I'm not doing too well. I just don't like summer. Sure, you're considered weird if you don't like summer, but it's getting hotter every year. As I type this, it's one of the high points of another heatwave today (or yesterday, I wrote this on Saturday). It's around 32-33 degrees, but it feels like a few degrees more. A third of the day was still slightly cloudy, but the heat here is still stifling!
So, do you still like summer? YES?? Then you're really beyond help. I already had my doubts about you when I kept reading how much you liked fragrances like Black Death,... oh I meant Black Orchid of course. These doubts became stronger when most of you said that you also liked scents like coriander and ylang-ylang. But if you're also into hot days like that, well... then you're hopelessly crazy :D
Maybe the heat has just fried a few brain cells, who knows? But don't worry, there's a little solution to all this: Citrus Colognes! Yes, the effect only lasts a few minutes, but most of them only cost a little money and you can spray them on again and again and at least provide a short-term refreshment! Phew, that really sounded like advertising.
Anyway, one of these colognes is "Çeşme Limonu" by Eyüb Sabri Tuncer. As you might have guessed, limon means lemon in Turkish. Çeşme means well or spring. However, it is usually also used for tap, Çeşme suyu means tap water, for example. So "Çeşme Limonu" probably means well lemons, spring lemons... or also... er... tap water lemons? :)))
No... it probably means lemons from the town of Çeşme.... Yep, Çeşme is also a city in Turkey, and Çeşme lemons is probably the more likely translation :D
I couldn't find out whether the lemons from this city are somehow special, and my Turkish relatives were as stupid as me and had no idea... argh :DD
The only thing I can say about Çeşme is that it's a very popular vacation spot, even for locals. I was there myself many, many years ago and loved it, although it wasn't as developed back then as it is today.
But that's enough of my ranting, now I'll finally get to the fragrance description!
A little later, the tea scent seems to disappear, but the fragrance remains tart.
The fragrance remains tartly citrusy until the end, with the citrus scent becoming milder and slightly creamier towards the end. It is only very slightly sweet.
In the later base, the fragrance remains as described, but takes on a slightly classic note with the oakmoss, even if the oakmoss is relatively weak. All in all, a fine and above all very refreshing fragrance.
It is of course best used in spring and summer, especially as a refresher that you can use extensively on hot days. No wonder that these colognes are also available in larger liters in real tubs, ufff :D In any case, almost ALL households in Turkey always have at least one cologne at hand, although this is not so much out of love for fragrances, but simply as a tradition and courtesy to offer colognes to guests, just like offering tea to all guests at all times and in all seasons.
Personally, I always think it's great when I'm visiting somewhere in Turkey, as it's always exciting to see what kind of cologne is on offer. On the other hand... it's always a lemon cologne 90% of the time, but at least it's always good in summer :))
Even today, on this really hot day, I sprayed the scent on several times and felt like I could breathe a little more air in this heat. Because it's extremely hot outside and it's a bit stuffy inside by now, but I still can't ventilate because it's still so hot and humid that all the heat would come in, ufff... did I say I hate summer? Hey hey! At least it's finally getting a bit cooler now!
Well, the day is almost done (which also means the weekend is almost over again *sigh*), so have a nice evening and see you next time :)

The fragrance:
The fragrance starts off quite interesting. Because although it smells nice and refreshing like lemons, I can't shake off the feeling that I'm also smelling a scent like tea, which I also find very pleasant. The fragrance also smells a little tart, as if you were smelling dried tea leaves, only mixed with lemons.
The sillage and the longevity:
The fragrance is extremely short-lived and I had the feeling that I could hardly smell anything after just 30 minutes, as it was then very close to the body. The fragrance's radiance was correspondingly weak. The bottle:
There are several versions of the bottle. Most, especially larger bottles with tons of content are usually made of plastic. But there are also variants with glass bottles. The design of the bottles is now different to what you can see here on Parfumo. The bottle is cylindrical, has grooves and a label with a nice lemon/plant drawing on it. The lid is made of plastic and looks rather cheap. It's nothing special, but okay. Conclusion:
So, of the Eyüp Sabri Tuncer colognes I've tried so far, this one is one of the nicest fragrances. Sure, I like citrus fragrances in general, but this one doesn't seem cheap or synthetic, it's just beautifully made. It is of course best used in spring and summer, especially as a refresher that you can use extensively on hot days.
