Ice-Cold Lemonade with a Hint of Lemon Cake

Bergamundi opens fresh and distinctly citrusy.

But there’s something special about this citrus note that I like straight away.

At first, I think of lemon - but not the typical green, sharp, or bitter citrus effect I get from many other fragrances.

This feels more like a ripe yellow lemon.

Juicy.

Bright.

Fresh.

But at the same time, there’s a very slight sweetness that takes the edge off the citrus note.

At first, the freshness even seems almost a little minty to me, though I can’t actually detect a distinct mint note.

The composition brings together bergamot, red mandarin, and lime. Orange blossom and magnolia follow, while white musk and cedarwood form the base.

That also explains why I couldn’t quite tell at first which citrus fruit I was smelling.

To my nose, this blend creates something that smells unmistakably like yellow lemon.

And it’s exactly this citrus note that I particularly like.

At times, it even reminds me a little of lemon cake.

Not in the sense that Bergamundi suddenly turns gourmand or actually smells like cake.

It stays much too fresh for that.

But the lemon has this soft, slightly sweet, rounded quality that reminds me more of the lemon in a lemon cake than of raw green lemon peel.

Every now and then, I even get a slight association with fresh lemon dish soap - but genuinely in a positive way.

Not cheap.

Not unpleasantly chemical.

Just that intensely clean, bright, sparkling feeling of yellow lemon.

And it’s exactly this combination that makes Bergamundi distinctive to me.

The fragrance is relatively uncomplicated overall. The citrus freshness stays firmly at the center, while I detect at most a little florality in the background.

But I like that simplicity.

I don’t want to wear a perfume every day where flowers, woods, fruits, spices, and ten other things are all happening at once.

Sometimes I just want a relaxed fragrance for a relaxed day.

Something neutral.

Something uncomplicated.

Something that simply makes me smell good and fresh.

And for that, I think Bergamundi is really lovely.

The image that comes to mind is:

A glass of ice-cold, lightly sweetened yellow lemonade under the hot summer sun - with a slice of lemon cake beside it.

The first sip is instantly refreshing.

Cold.

Juicy.

Citrusy.

Slightly sweet.

Exactly that feeling when you’re really thirsty in the heat and drink something cold.

And the longer I smelled Bergamundi, the more I liked this distinctive citrus note.

That’s why my fragrance rating remains:

8/10.

However, the fragrance changes again later on.

To my nose, this intensely clean lemon freshness eventually takes on a slightly metallic undertone.

I still like Bergamundi, though.

That metallic impression doesn’t ruin the fragrance for me.

But it’s enough to make me say:

Don’t buy it just yet.

I want to wear Bergamundi properly on my skin once more and see how this later phase develops over several hours.

Conclusion: 8/10 - MAYBE / TEST AGAIN

Bergamundi is simple, but not ordinary.

Its strength, to me, lies very clearly in this distinctive yellow citrus note:

Fresh without turning aggressively green.

Slightly sweet without being gourmand.

Clean without feeling sterile at first.

Almost like ice-cold lemonade + a hint of lemon cake + sparkling-clean lemon freshness.

The slightly metallic impression later on is keeping me from buying it right now.

But it doesn’t change the fact that I really like the fragrance.

8/10 - really lovely and distinctive, but give it another proper wear on skin before buying.
