Crazy About Her
By the time this fragrance came out, Ted Lapidus had lost his perfume line to his former perfume partner, Jacques Konckier, a man whose father forced him to study business instead of fulfilling his dream to become a filmmaker. You can't tell by Fou d'Elle, which means crazy about her. I guess it's because Gérard Anthony, the designer, ignored the shakeup and created another great perfume. Or perhaps Knockier's hand had been on the perfume tiller all along. I see he designed one of the early Lapidus perfumes. In any case, Knockier seems to have hired him because Fou d'Elle was Anthony's first for the line. It's a classy floral gourmand, rendered as beautifully as all the others, yet it's hard to describe exactly why it's great. These are familiar notes. Yet there's something to be said for taking perfectly ordinary notes and rendering them this beautifully. The result is an uplifting and accessible fragrance that can be worn by both gourmand and floral lovers. Longevity is great and sillage is more than adequate. Already it's a favorite.
