Fine is fine!
Fine Accoutrements is a small American family business based in Fairport (NY) that has been producing traditional wet shaving products since 2005, such as aftershaves, shaving soaps, brushes, safety razors, soap tubs, etc.
The aftershaves from Fine are always inspired by popular old-school men's fragrances such as Rive Gauche Pour Homme, Yves Saint Laurent, Guerlain Vetiver, Terre d'Hermes, and others. The skillfully crafted, elegant formulation consists of only four ingredients and contains no artificial colorants, emulsifiers, silicones, or parabens. The ingredients in all aftershaves include only alcohol, water, perfume, and a splash of menthol, which is typical for American aftershaves. For all fans of classic wet shaving, it should be noted that Fine always offers the corresponding shaving soap and shaving cream for each fragrance in its range.
The 100 ml glass bottle evokes "the good old days" with its appearance and is kept simple in an appealing and cool retro style. The Fine L'Orange Noir Aftershave Splash is a tribute to the French spicy, woody, earthy luxury fragrance Terre d'Hermes from 2006. A scent about which I believe I need to say nothing more here.
I find the care properties of Fine L'Orange Noir to be consistently good. After the typical burn of the alcohol, which thoroughly and reliably disinfects the face after shaving, the menthol cools the skin nicely afterward. However, as already mentioned above, the typical skin-care additions found in other aftershaves, such as aloe vera, allantoin, panthenol, witch hazel, hyaluronic acid, or others, are completely absent here. Since I always apply a skin-care cream or balm after using an aftershave anyway, this does not bother me.
The included fragrance immerses you in the familiar classic, masculine, and herb-sweet scent cloud of its great predecessor. The Fine L'Orange Noir produces a very good sillage for an aftershave and also has quite good longevity. I like to layer the Fine L'Orange Noir after shaving with the original EDT from Hermes. This creates an absolutely harmonious experience!
Fine is indeed fine!
