Eau de Royal Secret Five Star Fragrance 2014
2
Musty Reformulation
Unfortunately, this fragrance is no longer distributed by the company Monteil, but by the US brand "Five Star Fragrances". "Five Star Fragrances" are very rigorous reformulators and formula diluters. From the former fantastic "Royal Secret", only the name remains. What I smell in the current version is much cheaper lavender in the top note (with slightly menthol cigarette reminiscent overtones) on a conventional amber-civet-patchouli base that smells musty and outdated. A bit like "Tabu" by Dana, just not quite as heavy. The concentration here is a "Cologne Intensive", the scent fades after about 30 minutes - and one is relieved.

Unfortunately, I fell for this garbage years ago as well.

Thanks for your insightful comment... too bad, I was hoping for a "revamped" scent, but this one won't be joining my collection;-)

Such a shame, isn’t it? "Pavlova" was such a great scent... and look what’s become of it now... sigh.

Right on point! I thought the same about "Pavlova" by Payot, which is now also distributed by FSF.
