Before I write anything about "in the dark," I must express my general dissatisfaction with this brand. Floraiku is a brand that I would actually like to love. The bottles are beautiful, and I find the packaging along with the poems super interesting. There are usually many samples included with the ordered fragrances, and even 10ml travel sprays come with them.
The prices scream luxury, and the presentation of the fragrances does too. The names create a story, and the included poems intensify the suspense. However, the fragrances themselves often fail to deliver on this promise.
Now to In The Dark: We all probably have different associations when we think of dark or darkness. Perhaps something mysterious, something wicked or animalistic. The possibilities are, of course, diverse. I was hoping for something bolder. Something more honest. Many people dare to be more adventurous when the lights are out.
However, very few would think of a rose soap with that term. I can wear rosy soap in the light as well. Therefore, the theme of the mysterious was clearly missed for me.
The scent opens nicely. Peppermint and citrus greet us and linger for a few minutes.
Then comes the Turkish rose, which from now on plays the leading role in the fragrance. It is a very clean rose, which evokes associations with soap or laundry detergent for me.
Patchouli also joins in, but unfortunately, it doesn't save this uninspired rose scent.
The longevity and sillage were somewhat acceptable for me with 4 sprays. It lasts about 5 hours, and the scent was still detectable by a person standing next to me after 3 hours. It is certainly not a beast mode fragrance, but that is one of the few things I don't hold against "in the dark."
It must be noted - I really want to like you, Floraiku. Your packaging is fantastic. However, the fragrances I have tested so far cannot keep up, and the price for this scent is really cheeky.
