A Fleeting Rose Dream

"White Rose" reminds me of a soap I smelled in my childhood. It is a very distant memory and also very fragile - just like the scent itself. I remember taking the soap reverently from the drawer of a dresser. It was wrapped in the finest silk paper and lay like a treasure in the drawer. Even wrapped in the paper, it smelled simply heavenly!

In my research, I found out that the "White Rose" soap from Floris still exists today. "White Rose" Eau de Toilette smells just as heavenly, and the slightly greenish liquid in the bottle awakens these memories in me.
But not only these... I close my eyes and immediately hear birds chirping and the rustling of leaves. The air is soft and warm. With "White Rose," I have been beamed into a park. It is not a park in England, no, this park is just a few kilometers from my home. I sit on a wrought-iron bench, and on both sides, there are large rose bushes. When it is completely quiet, you can hear bees and bumblebees. Green notes and white roses dominate the scene. Light as a wingbeat, gentle yet captivating, the scent caresses me. "White Rose" is one of the most beautiful rose fragrances - and also one that is unfortunately quite fragile.

After a short time, the scent develops creamy, while the sillage remains very subtle. Especially in the warm season, "White Rose" can be worn very well. However, the longevity on my dry skin is unfortunately low. Either you enhance it with the matching body lotion - which I have not tried - or you have to reapply more often. I usually dislike that, but with "White Rose," it is not a problem because there is no significant scent evolution. Still, I would wish for more longevity; I find it very unfortunate when something so beautiful dissipates so quickly. Whether the Eau de Parfum is more long-lasting will be difficult to find out, as the EdP has unfortunately been discontinued.

"White Rose" does not have a scent development; it is and remains an elegant, fine, very light rose scent. It is never intrusive, never too much. Very stylish and elegant, simply a dream!

As a devoted rose lover, it's a wonderful scent for me, and the comparison to a finely scented soap is very accurate!

That's a lovely description! By the way, I have the impression that White Rose has been reformulated and greatly diluted. I had the same experience while testing it as you did. Then I got an older second-hand bottle, and voila: three times as strong and long-lasting!

If the scent doesn't last long on your skin, make sure to apply a good neutral body oil for dry or mature skin after showering. White Rose actually holds up quite well.

I once received that as a gift for Valentine's Day... always a lovely memory and a charming scent! Your description is making me want to reach for it again... hopefully, it never goes bad.

You've captured this rose wonderfully in words. As delicate as it is, it's just so beautiful.

Described in wonderful words, I can still remember those fine soaps well. It doesn't always have to be spectacular; understated and elegant is nice too.

Very beautifully written. I really like this scent too. - How wonderful were the times when you would admire a fragrant soap with such reverence. I have similar childhood memories.

It reminds me of the scent of my great-aunts' dressers - a fragrance you never forget.

A very fine scent! Probably too understated for most people.

That would be a rose scent I might like - except for the weak longevity.

Fragrances that mentally transport you to such beautiful places are something special. I’m not a fan of reapplying either. Sometimes, unfortunately, there’s no other choice. I also have a few of those delicate scents.

That sounds absolutely wonderful and makes me very curious. By the way, I know this fascination with fine soaps in dressers and linen closets all too well. Memories that seem to last forever :)
