I’ve Never Been to New York... and Not to LA Either
I had the pleasure of testing the new Los Angeles from Gallivant in advance. The lovely Nick (founder of the company) sent out a few samples beforehand. Overall, the customer service of this company is great! That definitely deserves a mention :)
Now to the scent:
LA starts off fresh - perfect for the midsummer we are currently experiencing. I suspect eucalyptus is the key player here. After a few minutes, a strong tuberose-gum note joins in. Well, tuberose and I have a contentious relationship. This nasty plant always gives me headaches. But wait! I smell it very strongly, but absolutely no headache! Not even the slightest throb! Perhaps it’s because the company is very committed to using only high-quality fragrance materials.
After the next few minutes, I find myself on the West Coast. A stiff breeze is blowing around my nose. So there’s also an aquatic note in there. I usually don’t like that at all and it often upsets my stomach, but here... no complaints :)
Slowly and gently, the sea mist fades away and the gum has almost lost its flavor. Towards the end, LA becomes creamy/woody, with a light sweetness remaining.
For me, this is something new: tuberose in sea salad... quite nice, but unfortunately not for me due to the main players. However, anyone who likes tuberose should definitely give this a try!
Wow, great. Best wishes to Nick ;-)
Tuberose is also a constant struggle for me. But I don’t have to have everything. Although THIS one sounds pretty good.
