If this is what Los Angeles smells like...
Then I don't want to go there. This was a disappointment, even though I was expecting it due to the ratings on Parfumo (6.1 at the time of this review).

Very strong, fresh, sharp menthol-like, camphorous beginning with some sickeningly sweet pineapple nectar. Smelled like pineapple-flavored medicinal product that you give to a kid who hates to take medicine. Eucalyptus and pineapple are the two main notes at the top. It starts morphing into florals accompanied by sickly sweet fruitiness from the top (thankfully the eucalyptus has slipped away). Tuberose is the strongest here with an animalic, bubblegum facet that is not my favorite thing. Paired with the pineapple and the narcissus, you get this slightly tropical feeling to the fragrance. Drydown is very candle-like synthetic, like one of those candles you'd get at Marshall or TJMax that says it smells like woods (without any details). There's some spiciness due to the juniper, but other than that it's all woods.

With subpar performance on my skin and an unusual scent that's not my cup of tea, this is definitely a nope. I suggest you try it out before blind-buying as this is not blind-buy safe. I'm starting to think Gallivant is not a house for me. Oh well, more savings to my wallet!

I’ve Never Been to New York... and Not to LA Either
I had the pleasure of testing the new Los Angeles from Gallivant in advance. The lovely Nick (founder of the company) sent out a few samples beforehand. Overall, the customer service of this company is great! That definitely deserves a mention :)

Now to the scent:
LA starts off fresh - perfect for the midsummer we are currently experiencing. I suspect eucalyptus is the key player here. After a few minutes, a strong tuberose-gum note joins in. Well, tuberose and I have a contentious relationship. This nasty plant always gives me headaches. But wait! I smell it very strongly, but absolutely no headache! Not even the slightest throb! Perhaps it’s because the company is very committed to using only high-quality fragrance materials.
After the next few minutes, I find myself on the West Coast. A stiff breeze is blowing around my nose. So there’s also an aquatic note in there. I usually don’t like that at all and it often upsets my stomach, but here... no complaints :)
Slowly and gently, the sea mist fades away and the gum has almost lost its flavor. Towards the end, LA becomes creamy/woody, with a light sweetness remaining.

For me, this is something new: tuberose in sea salad... quite nice, but unfortunately not for me due to the main players. However, anyone who likes tuberose should definitely give this a try!

Lotion vibe w/ cleverly added eucalyptus. Fades into a skin scent after 1 hour. Nothing new under the sun.

A strong camphorous beginning, a bubblegum/animalic middle which is followed by a sickening synthetic candle drydown. Not my cup of tea.

Juicy fruits with a minty and camphorous eucalyptus lift, a touch of green aromatics and fresh spices. Like a mentholic LV Afternoon Swim.

Synthetic pineapple par excellence. Despite a strong preference for daffodil and tuberose, LA remains just a brief stopover.

Starts fresh, then an unpleasant synthetic sweet fruit with tuberose gum. A hint of aquatic + smoke. Not the best sides of LA.

Zesty, slightly tangy pineapple. Plus sage, juniper, and light woods. I also perceive a hint of tuberose. Fresh, bright scent.

It almost hurts the nose - About as much as the Botox injections and nose jobs of the locals, just wrong.

Pineapple gum with minimal aquatic notes. Smells smoky-sweet and artificial. Not really wearable.

Saltwater and tuberose, fruity and sweet. This is successful and unique. One of the good Gallivants.
