Elegant Aquatic

A floral aquatic for those that love a floriental. This is not watery per se, a cooling floral describes it better. The notes listed in the box are:

Top - Orange, carnation

Middle - Jasmine, rose, wisteria, sea breeze

Base - Sandalwood, benzoin, vanilla

I smell everything apart from the orange, I think orange blossom would be more accurate. I'm also picking up some frangipane, but only slightly.

This is quite lovely and I'm kicking myself for not buying this when it was cheap at the discounters. I might have had to pay more now, but it was worth it, clean, cool, floral elegance bottled.

Oh how I miss L'Eau de Monteil!!!

This was my signature for the very short time that it had been on the market!
OMG, this was so lovely! I would pay double the money if this would come back!
I remember it being a little aquatic and flowery and so mesmerizing! Everybody loved this on me, I never recieved as many compliments on wearing a perfume, as when I wore this!
Very, very sad that this has been discontinued (sigh)...:-(
I've heard that vintage ones are easily 'gone off' so no use searching for a vintage one and so maybe 'sustainability' had been an issue for discontinuing this fragrance, I don't know. But I still miss her!

I wanted to like it so much...

I really wanted to like this L'Eau de Monteil. The packaging looked delightful with its pretty watercolor design and drew me in. The glass bottle in a turquoise shade that I love very much. When I received a small bottle as a gift, I couldn't believe it: the scent was absolutely challenging and shocked me. It was loud and very strong. Summery marine, salty notes combined with the scent of Christmas clove and oranges. A maritime oriental and very bold. Anything but mainstream, but for me, it was inedible. L'Eau de Monteil has tremendous power and longevity, yet it unfortunately reminded me of cleaning products. The charming presentation did nothing to change the fact that I wanted to get rid of it. I eventually sold it for a good price. It had its admirers.
I understand that there are users of this fragrance who appreciated it for its great individuality and the extraordinary scent combination.

If Monteil were better known...

If Monteil were better known, this would probably be the big competitor to Eau de Rochas. Unfortunately, we Europeans are not so keen on American fragrances. What a pity! Quote: "La beauté n'est pas un cadeau mais un point de vue" The skincare line from Germaine Monteil is also top-notch, but unfortunately hard to find!

A Very Strange Scent Profile

Now follows the next miniature from my collection that I will focus on. The L'Eau de Monteil is an extremely quirky fragrance. I somehow don't quite get it, as I've never encountered a scent like this before. The longevity is quite good at 6 to 7 hours, and the sillage is somewhat weaker.

The top note starts off quite aquatic, fresh, synthetic, and maritime. This shower gel character definitely makes the fragrance unisex for me, but then it completely disappears. The heart note suddenly becomes sweet, green, and floral. Here, jasmine flowers, leaves, foliage, and orange blossoms come together. The base is really strange and nutty for me. I took a while, but I definitely smell walnuts, which curiously bring a slight powderiness to the fragrance.

I have no idea; I am left here clueless. This nuttiness really disturbed me and felt somewhat inappropriate but also intriguing. The mini can move on ;-)
