Acqua di Gio 1.2

About 10 years ago, ADG was a must-have in my collection and was truly indispensable. IT was the epitome of summer freshness at the time, which was always well-received in the surroundings, especially by women. Unfortunately (what a surprise;-)), it never lasted particularly long; after a maximum of 5 hours, the freshness was unfortunately gone. After 4-5 bottles, I also got somewhat tired of it and switched to Armani Code Sport, which I really liked for its icy mint. Essenza came to me somehow too late, developed quite soapy on my skin, but the longevity was definitely a whole lot better. However, it just didn't click anymore, as the world of perfumes simply offers too much else and new...more exciting options.
I was all the more curious about the black variant, but without setting too many expectations. It all sounded really interesting...especially the combination of maritime notes mixed with sage and rosemary. I expected a slightly darker variant with a bit more depth. What I got was essentially a mix of the "normal" ADG and Essenza. Profumo is a bit more perfumed, the aquatic-sparkling aspect has been trimmed at the very top, it is still very fresh but has gained a spicy warmth. Although minimal, it is certainly noticeable. The new component makes up maybe 5-10%...it's not more than that. Unfortunately, the justification for this fragrance eludes my understanding, and I find it essentially unnecessary. The only thing in its favor is that the longevity is indeed better; the aforementioned 70% reflects that quite well. Profumo remains a fragrance for all occasions that will never "hurt" anyone...it will never stand out negatively...on the contrary...whether right after showering, at 30 degrees in the office, in the evening at a beach bar or disco, or just a quick trip to the supermarket...suitable for all occasions where one wants to appear/fell fresh, well-groomed, and not overly perfumed. I still see it appealing to a younger audience between 20-30 years old.
Conclusion: Still a very fresh fragrance, now with minimal spice; in computer language, one would speak of a "patch" where small errors (like the lack of longevity) have been fixed...hence 1.2.
The sillage is only strong for the first 15 minutes, then rather mediocre...as is often the case with summer fragrances!
