Metallic. Aquatic. Blood.
We were a bit late for our flight to the south and for some relaxation. Still, a quick detour to the airport's duty-free perfume section was possible. But why did I (after testing two completely different perfumes) blindly reach for “AdG Profondo EdT” for the purchase and the “fragrance of this vacation”? When I had pretty much trashed the original back then? When I had long lost track and interest in the many releases of the line? When nothing comes close to the 90s and the original “Acqua di Gio”? Sometimes I surprise myself…
I definitely knew - despite all the release chaos of the line! - that the EdT is brand new and it would be great for a vacation by the pool. That was probably enough for me - perhaps coupled with a lack of time and few alternatives - to put this surprise on the checkout belt. And to my delight, I must admit that I like “AdG Profondo EdT” much better than I had imagined shortly after my spontaneous purchase. I can hardly recall the EdP and a quite possible close relative anymore. So the EdT can score quite well by the pool, in the sun, at the gym, on excursions, and at the beach. Metallic cool. Light, casual, minty. Synthetic done right. A crowd-pleaser. More refreshing than sobering. Luckily. Mineral. Shower-gel-like. Clean. You can't go wrong with that. Ozone wave rider. Very light, very transparent. Maritime to intimate. Crystal clear gym vibes. However, it still clearly lacks that certain something. But now I seem to be much more generous and positive than I was with the (already re-released?!) EdP back then. And even “Acqua di Gio” from the naughty nineties never had the biggest wow and surprise moment for me. It always seemed a bit watery and shallow - and yet it became one of the most frequently and regularly worn scents in my collection! It was gone faster than a glass of Kölsch on Women's Carnival. It just always worked. And not unlike that, it could also go with this “Profondo EdT”. It has a woody-aquatic aura that simply sneaks everywhere, is pore-deep sporty attractive, and usually makes the masses grin with satisfaction. Great perfume art, however, is of course quite different…
Bottle: great, icy texture and thick glass… absolutely fine!
Sillage: pool-friendly
Longevity: 3-6 hours, depending on the heat. But it holds up quite well.
Conclusion: fresh, clean, blunt… I like the EdT better than the original EdP from 2020 - or am I just convincing myself of that after the blind purchase?!
