Effervescent mineral water
A classic masculine EDT. Fresh, citrusy, aquatic. Large initial cloud and overall sillage – clearly visible in 2m radius around the wearer. If you sit down in one place indoors, it soon fills the whole room.

Prominent citrus top notes – more grapefruit than lemon. But underneath there's a peculiar type of aquatic scent that I haven't encountered before. Mineral water. The kind that's bottled from a named spring and is more expensive because of its claimed medicinal properties.

There are woods below. Not much lavender. A long lingering trail.

I also tested this perfume on my partner some time later to have a better point of reference. As always – a single spray. About ~1 hour into the experience he went out for a smoke break. 15 minutes later I could still smell a faint trail left in his wake. So I'm pretty sure that if you ever get lost in a poorly ventilated maze – you could use this perfume as a makeshift Ariadne's thread to find your lover.

Citrus started fading away about ~2 hours in. Something else came to the forefront – the woods. But they smelled almost creamy and just slightly bitter, and reminded me more of young walnuts. Still aquatic and mineralic. Honestly? Delicious.

At that point it started settling closer to skin. Well, closer by its own standards – it only projected an arm's length away now. Lovely from afar, and don't get me wrong – still beautiful up close... But strong, sharp and overwhelming. A hug that's a moment too long would come with a bonus headache.

It took about ~4 hours to soften enough to become approachable. The watery notes fizzled out by then, and mineralic woody base transformed one last time into something new. Like a lonely tree on a rocky shore. Faint, but lovable. At ~7 hour mark it got very soft and barely visible, and soon after completely disappeared.

It was wonderful. Despite sharing an overall flavor profile with hundreds of other masculine freshies trying to do the same thing, it still felt interesting and unique. I loved it. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to actually use it – even one gentle spray was way too strong for my nose's comfort.

But I'm aware that for many people "dumb reach" is a positive quality, so if you're one of them – this one is dope, go for it ദ്ദി ( ᵔ ᗜ ᵔ )

Best of the line in my opinion
Since I got this recently I’ve gravitated to it way more than all my other summer fragrances. I love the simple freshness with a lot of beautiful citruses on top. It’s such an easy wear and I’ve been wearing it consistently more than profondo EDP which I really like too. I also have ADG EDP which is a bit more complex with its very green mid - I like it but this one is much easier to wear especially on a hot day. Love getting whiffs of this all through its life, which is about 5-6 hours for me - decent performance. I wouldn’t say beast mode - but why does it need to be. I can wear another fragrance easily afterwards or respray. I think profondo EDP has more complexity and a more green note in it.

And Giorgio Armani said: Let there be freshness!
I’ll give you the conclusion upfront: Unless you’re a collector, you unfortunately don’t need this flanker if you already have "Acqua di Giò Profondo (2024) (Eau de Parfum) | Giorgio Armani." I have the EDP and love it. I find the EDT very well done, but it is indeed too close to the EDP, so I won’t be getting it if I stay strong. It’s quite possible that it will end up in my wardrobe because I am a weak person when it comes to perfume.

A tribute to Acqua di Giò first:
(Written in the present tense to create more temporal and emotional closeness)
Acqua di Giò pour Homme Eau de Toilette was released in 1996 and made fresh, light, slightly sweet scents in the men’s segment very popular at the time, when Le Mâle Eau de Toilette translated the sweet opulence of the 1980s, still represented by Joop! Homme Eau de Toilette, into the 1990s. The rugged, spicy, robust scents of the 1980s still have their admirers and loyal wearers, but the hype at the top of the "charts" caters to other fragrances. In any case, Acqua di Giò pour Homme Eau de Toilette is the quiet representative of a new masculinity and thus serves as a godfather for fragrances that are still my favorites today. If I’m not mistaken, today’s Acqua di Giò pour Homme Eau de Toilette is lighter, less sweet than when it was first released. If that is true, one could say that Armani has increasingly catered to the need for lightness over time.

In any case, a legendary series was born in 1996, which is still dear to me and others, while others disdain these widely available fragrances, which are priced in the mid-designer segment: Nothing special; they don’t last; they are too similar; they don’t project 60 meters; they don’t last 170 hours; they don’t make three random women faint with delight at once. Let’s focus on the positives:
I adored "Acqua di Giò Profumo (Parfum) | Giorgio Armani," but I don’t chase after it. One should let go of what is gone. Absent lovers can be idealized and romanticized even better. I like to think back on it.
I have "Acqua di Giò Profondo (2024) (Eau de Parfum) | Giorgio Armani," "Acqua di Giò pour Homme (Eau de Parfum) | Giorgio Armani," and "Acqua di Giò Parfum | Giorgio Armani," and I love them. Great fresh scents that smell wonderful and all have their own characteristics and differences. The perfume is more metallic, reminiscent of Acqua di Giò Profumo Parfum through rosemary and incense. The EDP is perhaps the best fresh green I know: It flies consistently under the radar, but it is a perfectly designed scent. The Profondo EDP is also metallic and maritime, but with green mandarin and lavender, it is fruity-fresh in the opening, has enormous longevity, and conquers hearts like the young Gunter Sachs.

Now to Acqua di Giò Profondo Eau de Toilette:

Citrusy-ozonic start with maximum freshness. You can recognize the Profondo DNA. The opening of the Profondo EDP is also such that you want to keep spraying. It’s that beautiful. However, you don’t need more than 3-4 sprays. The EDT is therefore less sweet, fresher, and less green. I love all these aspects in the EDP, but I think: Even less green and with a focus on citrus, it is also wonderful.
The drydown: The lavender here is also toned down, yet perceptible, but perfectly integrated into the Profondo DNA. Gentle woody aspects come into play, but the feeling of refreshing citrus remains. On my skin, it radiates like all the other Acqua di Giò fragrances, so I perceive it on me for several hours - and others do too.
Conclusion about the scent: Close to the EDP, but a perfect, more summery-fresh aquatic. No one, absolutely no one, will think that you don’t smell great when wearing this fragrance. You can wear it to work and as a lover, you can certainly make a division of labor and switch to the EDT when temperatures rise above 27 degrees, while in spring and autumn, you can wear the EDP.
I had a nightmare yesterday: I had to go to work and was already very late. Finally found everything (phone, wallet, and car keys - strange, I don’t even own a car) I wanted to apply a fragrance before heading out. I go into the bedroom, but on the dresser, there are only the following fragrances:
"Ombre Nomade | Louis Vuitton," "Baccarat Rouge 540 (Eau de Parfum) | Maison Francis Kurkdjian," "Emporio Armani - Stronger with You Intensely | Giorgio Armani," "Arabians Tonka | Montale," and "Erba Pura | Xerjoff." I panic. In reality, I would have gone out the door scentless. But in the dream, that’s not possible. A suffocating feeling grips me. I need to spray something, I feel. But I can’t spray what I see there. The rational part seems not to be completely turned off in the dream. Or is it simply my own identity? That’s not me, I think. If I wear one of the fragrances from the dream, it’s over with my authenticity - or even with my soul? What a nightmare! What a cruel game with my mind! I feel my chest tightening and I must whimper in my sleep. But suddenly, at the peak of the pressure, I feel a freshness. It becomes almost cold. The sweat of fear makes me shiver as the cool breeze hits my body. I smell sunshine. The salt of the sea. My chest loosens. I look up. The ceiling of the bedroom has turned into a blue cloud. A man with white hair looks at me with his kind yet cool, predatory eyes. God, is that you? No, on second glance, I see it’s Giorgio Armani in a - well - black suit by Giorgio Armani and certainly not from Emporio Armani. (Readers of Bret Easton Ellis will know the difference. Well, perhaps rich people will too. But I am not rich.) So it is Signore Armani. And from this blue cloud heaven, bottles float towards me. Blue, black, and clear bottles. God...uhhhh...Giorgio Armani lets Acqua di Giòs rain down on me. A smile crosses my face. I recognize the new Acqua di Giò Profondo Eau de Toilette and reach for it. It lies in my hand. I spray it 3-4 times on my neck and my feet now float. Where did this blue suit come from that I’m wearing? It fits perfectly! I approach Giorgio Armani and wake up. The feeling of fear has been replaced by the enthusiastic feeling of happiness.
What did Giorgio Armani want to tell me? Should I...maybe...go to a store next week...Hmm. I think about it. Staying strong sometimes seems overrated to me.

P.S.: Maybe I do need this flanker after all. Because in my review of "Afternoon Swim | Louis Vuitton," I had the fantasy that I could spray Afternoon Swim after my morning laps for refreshing purposes during the outdoor swimming season. But it seems to me that Acqua di Giò Profondo Eau de Toilette is better suited for that. On the one hand, it is of course significantly cheaper. On the other hand, I find my personality better represented in it than in the LV AS. I’ll go to a store next week.

Profondo edp in still fresh
I ordered the new Acqua di Giò Profondo Eau de Toilette directly along with a bottle of "Acqua di Giò Profondo (2024) (Eau de Parfum) | Giorgio Armani," as I had only tested this one 1-2 times in the drugstore.

In the opening, you can immediately notice the biggest difference. While the edp offers the typical Profondo DNA with a sweet mandarin, the edt goes straight into a freshness explosion. It is significantly less sweet, but more citrusy (yet very pleasant and beautifully balanced!). It also immediately smells very mineral-marine, leaving a brief impression of mint.

In the drydown, it approaches the Profondo edp, but without its depth and sweetness, rather like a "light" version of the edp. The sillage is really good for the first 3 hours, but then it becomes more intimate. In terms of longevity, the edt is only 1-2 hours weaker, but after the initial ~3 hours, unlike the edp, not much scent remains on the skin.

For summer or the gym, it's a really good candidate! Fresher, less sweet, less spicy/woody. It fits perfectly into the line and was an expected extension. Just as Acqua di Giò pour Homme Eau de Toilette relates to "Acqua di Giò pour Homme (Eau de Parfum) | Giorgio Armani," so it is with Acqua di Giò Profondo Eau de Toilette and "Acqua di Giò Profondo (2024) (Eau de Parfum) | Giorgio Armani."

If you own one, you probably don't need the others. Each is always and everywhere usable. However, if you are a fan of the line, I would categorize them for the following occasions:

Acqua di Giò Profondo Parfum - Evening & Winter
Acqua di Giò Profondo (2024) Eau de Parfum - Everyday and Work
Acqua di Giò Profondo Eau de Toilette - Gym and Summer

----------

A small addition: The edt reminds me quite a bit of Chrome Extrême without its sweetness!

Metallic. Aquatic. Blood.
We were a bit late for our flight to the south and for some relaxation. Still, a quick detour to the airport's duty-free perfume section was possible. But why did I (after testing two completely different perfumes) blindly reach for “AdG Profondo EdT” for the purchase and the “fragrance of this vacation”? When I had pretty much trashed the original back then? When I had long lost track and interest in the many releases of the line? When nothing comes close to the 90s and the original “Acqua di Gio”? Sometimes I surprise myself…

I definitely knew - despite all the release chaos of the line! - that the EdT is brand new and it would be great for a vacation by the pool. That was probably enough for me - perhaps coupled with a lack of time and few alternatives - to put this surprise on the checkout belt. And to my delight, I must admit that I like “AdG Profondo EdT” much better than I had imagined shortly after my spontaneous purchase. I can hardly recall the EdP and a quite possible close relative anymore. So the EdT can score quite well by the pool, in the sun, at the gym, on excursions, and at the beach. Metallic cool. Light, casual, minty. Synthetic done right. A crowd-pleaser. More refreshing than sobering. Luckily. Mineral. Shower-gel-like. Clean. You can't go wrong with that. Ozone wave rider. Very light, very transparent. Maritime to intimate. Crystal clear gym vibes. However, it still clearly lacks that certain something. But now I seem to be much more generous and positive than I was with the (already re-released?!) EdP back then. And even “Acqua di Gio” from the naughty nineties never had the biggest wow and surprise moment for me. It always seemed a bit watery and shallow - and yet it became one of the most frequently and regularly worn scents in my collection! It was gone faster than a glass of Kölsch on Women's Carnival. It just always worked. And not unlike that, it could also go with this “Profondo EdT”. It has a woody-aquatic aura that simply sneaks everywhere, is pore-deep sporty attractive, and usually makes the masses grin with satisfaction. Great perfume art, however, is of course quite different…

Bottle: great, icy texture and thick glass… absolutely fine!
Sillage: pool-friendly
Longevity: 3-6 hours, depending on the heat. But it holds up quite well.

Conclusion: fresh, clean, blunt… I like the EdT better than the original EdP from 2020 - or am I just convincing myself of that after the blind purchase?!

In what seems to be the perfume equivalent of the loudness-wars with going from EDP > parfums > extrait, this is a thoughtful EDT release

Having both the EDP and now the EDT Profondo I'm loving the grapefruit/lemon combo right off the top. Redundant? probably, but I don't care.

Smells like the ADG EDP 2022, but the lemon clearly dominates here. And the typical ADG DNA is present.

Brighter, less sweet, but more metallic version of the EDP.
Lavender: Citrusy, aquatic, and very good! No fuss. Just an AdG!

Absolutely didn’t expect anything and was very positively surprised by the scent. The citrus could last a bit longer before the typical AdG DNA.

For me, the cleanest fresh citrus scent I've tested so far. Free from any disturbance or irritation. A perfect summer perfume.

Brighter, citrusy, zestier, and louder than its brothers - yet it still maintains the familiar mineral and patchouli combination in the drydown.
