Sweet Green Floral
While Ebay prices are going up and up for hard-to-find bottles of Dior's Tendre Poison, its cheaper alternative, Gres Cabotine seems to be decreasing in price. I know which one I'd buy.
Gres Cabotine is a unique fragrance, one that truly stands out from the crowd. Honestly, it's not my personal cup of tea, however I do appreciate it. If green florals are your thing, and you haven't already tried Cabotine, now would be the perfect time to find a bottle.
The composition is quite complex, so it's not surprising that the scent varies with every wearing. Some days it smells like a tropical floral on my skin, other days it's quite soapy and sweet. The notes that never seem to change are the fuzzy peach, sweet tangerine, hyacinth, cassia, ginger and watery jasmine.
I suppose you could call Cabotine a classic, seeing that it's been on the market since I was born. It has spawned many flankers since, with the delightful Cabotine Rose being one of them.
Cabotine reminds me of a lush rainforest with small rays of sunshine peeking through the gaps of the trees above. This is not far off Dior's Tendre Poison which made me think of long lost tribes in the jungle. Both of them signalled the beginning of an interesting fragrance genre.
The longevity of Cabotine is superb, as is the moderate to strong sillage. As a word of warning, this fragrance should be applied sparingly. Thank goodness this gem is still relatively easy to find. It has my tick of approval.
