...and not a trace of sweetness or heaviness! This GRES is a hit... it arrives quietly on airy little paws and cuddles around the nose, it is powerful, but also subtly sensual, stylish, and with a high recognition value, as I personally find. It is not a scent you encounter everywhere, it needs a self-confident wearer who stands firmly in life, not a girl and certainly not a gray mouse. I treated myself to it without knowing what to expect - yes, I love blind buys, even though I must admit that I have often missed the mark, but that is the risk and this thrill has its charm too ;-) now from the very beginning: at first, with the first spray, a wonderful spicy-bright pepper envelops you with a hint of southern mandarin, you immediately want more of it.... I cannot identify jasmine and that is just fine with me, as I am not fond of jasmine in pronounced form. What, however, creeps beautifully into the nose is the full, ripe plum, which makes it deeper and darker... it has something very animalistic at this point, pure sensuality... fortunately, it remains consistently unsweetened and thus does not become unbearably heavy or intrusive, which I hate and tends to give me headaches - Piece Unique is miles away from that, fortunately! Now I am wondering who or what "Davana" actually is - this ingredient is mentioned in the official fragrance pyramid... I have never heard of it, but it seems to be delicious ;-) what makes the scent uniquely sensual in my view, especially in the dry-down, which is very long-lasting, is a brilliant blend of leather, musk, incense, and a dash of patchouli... my nose is practically glued to my wrist! By the way, I think it could also pass as a unisex scent, for guys who love that certain something beyond the bland mainstream! This GRES is damn sexy and erotic, but not overtly so and even less clumsy and direct, it has elegance and grandeur and it wants to be celebrated..... it will accompany me this fall and winter and I already love it!
Unfortunately, we just didn't click, even though the fragrance pyramid sounds great and I really like Cabochard and Mme Grès... With Piece Unique, the mandarin pricks my nose and there's some dry note that bothers me. I'll give it another chance, but I think it will be swapped.
