The Dis - Dance
I have already encountered quite a few transformation artists in the niche world who change over several hours in their scent progression, smelling completely different on skin & clothing, but this fragrance does something I have not experienced in this form before;
It smells completely different depending on the distance. While I have experienced this with other fragrances, it is new to me to such an extreme degree.
Don't be intimidated by the fragrance pyramid; this is not a pencil lead metal T-800 explosion like Noir Anthracite - which I actually expected and find exciting - but an extremely invigorating, ozone-like freshie with intriguing twists.
The scent proves its chameleon-like nature when playing with distance.
The sillage is enormous. Room-filling - extremely unusual for an extrait. Sprayed on a perfume card and placed in the room, it spreads a previously mentioned, unobtrusive, pleasant ozone freshness. When you leave the room and come back, you first notice how strong it is. Placed in the hallway - it accompanies you anew with every slightest breeze - this freshness. Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum would be envious here; I have actually rarely experienced something like this.
However, when you get closer to the card - or the sprayed piece of skin - Super Nova shows its second face. Here it becomes metallic, cool, earthy - and you start to doubt that the freshness from just now could really have come from this spot.
Overall, I find the fragrance concept totally exciting; space suits are said to smell gunpowder-like once they have taken their first walk. So you have the scent of outer space, the metal of spaceships, dark earthy apocalyptic notes, and the ozone-like, lonely freshness of new beginnings - completely captured in a bottle.
For some, it may be too simplistic, too linear in its progression, boring. When cooking, they say, "the eye eats with" - with fragrances, I say: "the brain smells along" - I simply find this fragrance as a concept and as an old sci-fi fan just great.
