Envy for Men Gucci 1998 Eau de Toilette

First of all: If I would wear a fragrance for the rest of my days, it would be Envy for Men. Never again have I encountered a fragrance with which I was more in tune. You don't have to understand, but I do. If I remember correctly, the first version was rather yellow, then came a pale green and finally a strong green. According to my olfactory memory, ginger in the top note and sandalwood in the drydown were much more dominant in the first version than in the successors. If I had known then how much I would miss Envy for Men today, I would have acted like Helmut Schmidt, who allegedly stashed Reyno menthol cigarettes in his cellar before they were banned. Anyway, missed the chance. Today, I only have a second-generation, quarter-full bottle and it is guarded like the apple of my eye, because I'm not going through the bidding madness for leftover stock. My first Envy for Men bottle was a gift, by the way, and at first it caused me to shake my head: "I'm not running around with a fragrance that I can't stop thinking of as 'Envy' But after the first spray, the resolution went to hell. By the way: On my search for a twin fragrance for Envy for Men I was recommended by Floris Santal and Carven Homme. Both unfortunately only distant relatives, but for me definitely not twins. So I continue to sniff my way through the fragrance landscape in search of the holy grail that Envy for Men was for me.
