Another designer perfume in an oversaturated market
Received this as a sampler with a Sephora purchase way back before it was annonced, forgot about it for awhile and now here I am ready, to test it!
I'm going to say it: it smells like baby powder. Floral, slightly fruity, yes, but baby powder above all else. And it's not something I want to wear during the day. I'm already not a great fan of powdery perfumes, so this was already a no to me, but my colleagues told me it had a baby powder scent and that was an even more immediate turn-off. There's clearly a Gorgeous DNA going on here (I smelled Gorgeous Jasmine before and I was reminded a bit of it in this scent). Blackberry was the strongest contender in the top notes with its fruity and tart accord. Flowers sort of blended in a non-descript way, giving everything a powdery accord that ended up overwhelming everything. There's also an adjacent plasticky, almost Play-Doh scent that came up when I pulled my nose right up to my skin, but it's not detectable when I'm at a reasonable distance. Everything ends up drying down to this earthy, warm scent, a welcome contribution from the three bottom notes. I feel like this perfume could've been better blended as the notes and accords do seem to clash a bit during its time on my skin, but I can't clearly pinpoint what should've been done differently.
Overall the perfume isn't bad, it might even be good for those who love floral, powdery scents, but to my nose it isn't amazing enough to add to my collection. I also have the feeling I have already smelled something similar before and I can't seem to put my finger on the name of the perfume. Anyways, I'm just saying that if you do have a floral powdery perfume in your arsenal, you don't really need this one, except if you really love the Gucci Gorgeous line. It's a fine feminine-leaning perfume, but nothing amazing or unique.
