Hello my dear sniffers and welcome to a new comment from me. Today I describe the second new Aqua Allegoria fragrance of this year (2019), namely Ginger Piccante (the first was Flora Cherrysia, also a lovely, summery scent).
I must admit that at first, while testing this fragrance, I had enormous difficulties concentrating on the scent itself. Just before spraying, my companion, a good friend (and by the way just as much a total fragrance fanatic as all of you!!) absolutely had to test a lipstick color. As if it wasn't bad enough for singles like me to watch a pretty woman paint (color? dye? lacquer? Huh? What do you even call that??? I have no idea!!!) her lips with a beautiful shade, no, her lips also had to be painted by a saleswoman (and again I ask: are lips painted, colored, dyed, lacquered or what??? :D), who was ultra-beautiful and ultra-sweet, aaargh!!! It's only natural that afterwards one can think of nothing else but kissable lips, aaaaah! *sigh* :D
But despite all the odds, I managed to describe the scent here as accurately as possible. And although ginger may sound quite unusual as a fragrance note and is not really everyday when it comes to fragrance notes, this scent has turned out surprisingly well and has become one of my favorite Aqua Allegoria fragrances from Guerlain.
**The Scent:**
Wow, what a great start. You smell a truly wonderful mix of herbal ginger and creamy lemon (balm), which may sound very simple in theory, but in practice (that is, when sprayed) it immediately captivates you. Sure, one might think that ginger is one of those somewhat unusual-smelling fragrance notes, but here it smells so wonderfully fresh together with the lemon that it fits extremely well into the warm days!
A little later, roses come in, which also smell good and give the fragrance a feminine touch (before that, the scent seemed more unisex to me). Additionally, the fragrance has a nice, light sweetness.
For a longer time, the fragrance mainly stays with the notes of ginger, lemon, and rose. In my opinion, the spiciness from the pepper is not very noticeable. Sure, you can detect the pepper or at least something spicy when you smell closely at the sprayed area, but in the scent cloud, it comes across as a fine, spicy note at most, which is fine since it smells nice and enhances the herbal-sweet scent without being really noticeable.
In the base, you still smell the ginger-lemon-rose mix with light, creamy notes that make the fragrance appear softer. A nice, woody note from cedar adds a fitting touch, which is not very strong but still noticeable. Additionally, the fragrance has a nice, clean touch and thus feels fresh and pure. A very lovely scent!
**The Sillage and Longevity:**
The sillage is moderate and therefore better perceived from close up. As has been described for several Aqua Allegorias, the sillage in this fragrance line is just like that, as it is generally for many fresh, summery scents. It may be a bit weak, but it is still sufficient, even if one might have wished it to be a bit stronger. The longevity is about six to seven hours, which is quite okay. But I would refresh the fragrance after half the time :)
**The Bottle:**
The fragrance is filled in the wonderful, cylindrical bee bottles. While the other bottles that also feature these glass-embedded bees are even more beautiful, this one still looks nice with its somewhat simpler design, especially since it has gilded honeycomb as a nice detail on the domed upper part. The cap is also gilded and round. A beautiful bottle!
Wow folks, I may not be a huge ginger fan, but I find this fragrance very successful and fragrant. Especially together with the lemony balm, it smells wonderful, fresh, soothing, mood-lifting, and simply great. Moreover, it comes across beautifully creamy, which enhances the feeling of well-being even more.
The only thing I would complain about is the rose. Don't get me wrong, everything smells so wonderful, including the rose. But the rose ultimately makes the fragrance really feminine, so it is indeed a women's fragrance as stated, even if it initially came across as a bit unisex. This means it is (once again) a shame for us guys, because the fragrance suits you ladies (once again… tsss…) better. Especially with dark red (or other beautiful colors) lips that look so kissably delicious that one must sigh if one cannot or is not allowed to kiss them, waaah!!! :D
Therefore, I definitely recommend this fragrance to you ladies. You must absolutely try it. Just like Flora Cherrysia, this one has become a great fragrance for warm days that fits perfectly in many situations, whether work or leisure. This one would even be suitable for going out! Soo… only Coconut Fizz is left from the new Allegorias, which I will surely test someday… you know me! :D
With that, I am at the end and wish you all a lovely evening, until next time :)
I love it, but I find it rather feminine. On me, it lasts the longest of all the Allegorias. However, it only works up to 30 degrees... above that, in real heat, I prefer Pampelune.
I really like it too! Especially since lemon balm, unlike lemon, has the endurance to last until the end - super nice for the warm evenings coming up soon!
