Don‘t worry, be happy!

Sun, summer, sunshine! Wonderful! A perfect day to ... go into the garden??? That may be true for many, but I certainly do not belong to that group. I can't stand gardening, absolutely not at all. I should have thought about that before moving into a house with, albeit small, a garden. And by the way: Who invented the term "weed"? It's similar to "unnecessary costs," because there are only "costs" just like "herb." And for my part, the herb could grow like in a wildflower field, but my neighbors are not really pleased with this attitude due to the wind-blown spores. Which means: I have to go into the garden from time to time.
Well then, off we go. Not highly motivated, but at least somewhat motivated, I arm myself with gardening tools, which consist of an old kitchen knife, with which I will try to pull the weeds out from between the paving stones.
Well, at least I can enjoy the sun, the light summer breeze, the morning calm, the birds chirping ...

SIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRR!!!! What is THAT?! A circular saw?! No, seriously! What is my dear neighbor doing with a circular saw on a Saturday morning? Ahh, it comes back to me, he is paving his terrace himself. So he is cutting stones. And while I try to scrape the greenery out of the cracks with my little knife, the saw blade is whirring and cutting stone after stone in a maddening monotony. Did I say maddening? No, then the nerve would be dead, rather in a nerve-wracking high-pitched whir that makes me feel like it’s pulling the last amalgam fillings from my teeth.

No. No, I can't endure this. Angrily, I stomp inside, heading straight for my perfume cabinet to spray myself with something to lift my spirits or bring inner peace. Without much thought, I choose Ginger Piccante, zesty, fresh, sparkling. One to five spritzes later, I stomp back onto the terrace and, as if to calm me, the chainsaw has quieted down, making acoustic space for the flock of birds. Cheerfully and with a decent hint of ginger in my nose, I poke around in the cracks to deal with the so-called weeds. In between, I take a quick sniff for good spirits, because ultimately, I am still doing gardening, and for that alone, the scent is necessary, and I smell not only the spicy-fresh ginger but also grapefruit, even though it should actually be lemon and bergamot, but it has that bittersweet scent of grapefruit. Maybe that also comes from the two mentioned components in conjunction with the ginger. My mood calms down, and in the back of my mind, the first notes of a song begin to form...

ROOOOAAAAAARRRRRR!!!!! Startled, the garden knife flies high into the birdbath, the blackbird takes flight due to the murder attempt, I have tipped to the side from the shock, and the song in my head is gone. My direct neighbor to the right is awake. And he loves to set up his Wi-Fi speakers (and not small ones, I actually accepted them from the postman!) in the garden and blast the neighborhood with what feels like 180 decibels. Preferably with death metal and similar. I only hear roaring, bellowing, deafening noise, and the tempo of the drums sends my pulse skyrocketing.

I leave the knife be, my nose desperately searches for my wrist... no, that’s no longer enough to maintain my good mood. And so I stomp back inside to spray myself with good vibes from the fragrance bottle. Ten spritzes later, I march outside, completely fogged up, with the firm intention of ramming my knife into the Wi-Fi speakers, only to find with great pleasure: The music is off. Apparently, another knife has found its way into the box. Or it was resolved verbally among neighbors. I don’t care, I enjoy the peace!
A renewed hint of ginger (well, hint is a bit of an understatement after 10 spritzes) surrounds me like a good mood bell, paired with the refreshingly bitter citrus. And as I work my way through the cracks, a light woody undertone joins in, along with some pepper that tickles my nose together with the ginger. Zesty and sparkling as well as refreshing, it’s a real pick-me-up. Yes, one could almost get in a really good mood if it weren't for this gardening fuss. Meanwhile, the song has crept back into my head: “Uuhh uu uu uu uu uhuhuhuhuhuhu, don’t worry, uhuhuhuhuhuhu, be happy, uhuhuhuhuuuuuu, don’t worry, be happy!” and I hum softly to myself, glad to have completed half of the terrace...

RÖÖÖÖHHHHRRRRRR! NEEEEEEIIIIIINN!!!! But no, the neighbor on the left has decided to mow the lawn in such nice weather. This can't be true... SSSSIIIIIIRRRRRRRR! The circular saw, great! JUST GREAT!!!!! I have to sniff my wrist.
“Don’t worry...” ROOOOOAAAAAAARRRRR! Yes, yes, the Wi-Fi box can definitely compete with the lawnmower and circular saw. And how it can. Don’t get worked up, sniff again. Why does it dissipate so quickly...
RÖÖÖHHHHIIIIIIIRRRRRRROOOOOOAAAAARRRRR!!!!
No! What is too much is too much!!! The weeds can take a hike, I could easily trade the neighbors right now, and I stomp angrily back into the house. The bottle is still almost full... that should be enough for now. *ppffffffppffffffpffffff*
“...be happy!”

Ooh yes! All those neighbors who have to drown out their inner emptiness with dozens of noisy motorized gadgets in the garden, unable to pick up quiet hobbies (books! newspapers! colognes or perfumes!!!) - they really get on my nerves!
I found the ginger AA nice, but it didn't make it into my collection...

I had already left the trophy for this delicious comment here recently. I'm only getting around to replying now... So once again: wonderful comment! Such a joy to read!

I do like ginger, so I guess I should give this a try for the summer. Kudos for your comment. Now I remember why I absolutely needed a house in a secluded spot in the countryside. ;-)

So in one word: a feel-good scent. Oops, that was 4... Sometimes you really need something like this... ;-)

I dislike gardening just as much as you do. It doesn't relax me, and I can't imagine it as a hobby. The fact is, any potted plants that come my way are doomed.
I don't know the scent yet... but I’ll have to give it a try. :-)

Very nice and funny comment! Thank you! :)
I share your views on gardening!
I also think the scent is great.
By the way, I read your blog about the thank-you notes - I totally agree, it shouldn't become a pressure thing - so please, no stress, there's no expectation! ;)

Grins - did I already mention that I sometimes feel like your kindred spirit? Paragraph 1 reinforced that impression once again. By the way: Salt helps with the greenery in the cracks - a generous sprinkle keeps the weeds away for good. And: I'm really, really glad that I don't have to hear everything!

Very amusing. At this rate, the bottle will be empty soon.

Yes, it's great. Really refreshing and, as someone mentioned before, energizing like hardly any other scent.
Otherwise, I would recommend some awesome headphones with music of your choice.
You'll definitely get a trophy!

If the bottle ever runs empty, just keep this mindset: BEFORE I GET UPSET, I DON'T CARE.
Your comment was heartwarming :-))))

Yes, exactly - just spray everything away =D *laughlaugh* I think the scent is great too - but the longevity is so low - but with so many sprays, that’s taken care of, and the neighbors are happy too :) Trophy for you!

Exactly! :)))
In summer, it's a real challenge to get some sleep during the day after exhausting night shifts! Often, only earplugs, a relaxing shower, and a nice scent help... and Ginger Piccante is perfect for that! For me, it's one of the best in the line.

And they always say having a garden is sooooo relaxing :) I also find the music really inconsiderate!!! At least there was a little bright spot with "Ginger Ale - the Fragrance." Maybe I should get a sample of that too; I thought it was great when I tested it on my skin during my last drugstore visit! Best regards

I can't stand these noise machines at all! They really drive me crazy. Why do men-it's usually men-need these loud, aggressive machines to relax while gardening? Because they hate gardening and just want to get it done quickly to fire up the grill. Hearing loss will be their reward, that's for sure!

Really one of the most beautiful from the AA line.

Yes, that's the great neighborhood. I know it too. Bobby McFerrin can't compete with that. But hey, there's definitely the scent of the scraped earth mixed in with the crushed greenery in the fragrance, so close to the ground with the little knife. Of course, you need a pressure washer. And a motor tiller to get all the greenery under the ground, one for a hectare, so really loud. Wait, next week the heat will take care of it, then you just have to sweep everything up nicely.

Delicious to read, as long as you’re not affected yourself... I would have suffered like you... I don’t like gardening; I imagine it to be idyllic, but I’m glad I no longer live in an apartment with a garden. And I hate noise the most! I’m unfortunately very sensitive to sounds.
I really like the word "partially motivated." That little bottle will probably be empty soon...

Saturday 10:00 AM, a similar scene almost everywhere in Germany. It's best to be part of the cacophony yourself. So, next time, grab the trimmer or the leaf blower, or else your bottle will be empty soon!

What a delicious and vibrant description :-) One can't live in peace if the evil neighbor isn't happy. I'd also have murderous thoughts in that case. However, I wouldn't mind digging around in the garden if I had one. The scent might appeal to me too; I always love a good mood booster.

You poor thing. I find it pretty inconsiderate when neighbors blast music. As for your garden - I can kind of relate to that. *gggg*
