The times are over when I absolutely had to have every mainstream Guerlain immediately. I am now old and wise, well... at least more patient. Let the others test it first, because too often I have fallen for label deception, even with Guerlain, one of my favorite brands, and that costs.
In general: "Eau Florale" - a new marketing gimmick that doesn't really say much about the scent. Black Perfecto, which I actually find very good, also carries this designation. And I don't find many flowers there either, except for the tattooed Dark Rose with a high leather content.
Mon Guerlain Florale is a flanker whose justification for existence I can't really explain. The similarity runs through all stages of development, and you really need a lot of sensitivity in your nose to detect the marginally less sweetness and slightly more floral notes. Sillage and longevity are on par.
The bottle and box are also 99% the same procedure. A quick shot. Unfortunately, in my opinion, not really necessary.
After seeing some comments about it being "salty fresh" and since I really enjoy the scent of lavender and neroli, I boldly sprayed some on my wrist today. Even though I usually don’t use many floral scents. Unfortunately, all I smell is an overpowering candy scent. Even while biking home, the breeze from my wrist nearly took my breath away. And the Handsan odor-neutralizing kitchen soap doesn't help either. Definitely not for me and just too strong.
I can't agree at all. I don't really like Mon Guerlain either. I find the sweetness totally overwhelming and unbearable as it develops. The floral version is much lighter, with both lavender and floral notes being pleasant and much less sweet. It really benefits the original. It's wearable as a floral, lovely, and not too much. And thankfully, that annoying sweetness in the base is missing. Well done.
I really don't like the predecessor at all, but this one makes a huge difference on my skin. It's not nearly as gourmand - sweet, and thankfully the lavender lasts much longer, plus the flowers make me enjoy being a "flower aunt" too :-).
We had the same experience with the Mademoiselle EdT/Intense from Chanel. This scent was completely different. We could clearly distinguish the differences. That's why it became Floral. @Precious, both of us are very nice and nothing banal.
I had the regular "Mon Guerlain" and didn't find it outstanding: too sweet, too much like LVeB, not enough lavender, etc. I have to say that I find this flanker significantly less sweet (on my skin, mind you) and therefore much better than the original.
