Most boring of the vanilla scents Guerlain has made, but still good
It's just a slightly woody vanilla scent. A good one, but boring nonetheless. The benzoin reminds me of Bois d'Arménie but just not as good because the vanilla overpowers it. And that's mostly the problem here: Spiritueuse Double Vanille is just too similar to other releases by Guerlain. If a brand today released Cuir Béluga Eau de Parfum, Bois d'Arménie, and Spiritueuse Double Vanille in 3 consecutive years, it would be lambasted to hell and back for lack of creativity. But because it's Guerlain, it's "heritage" and classy and the "Guerlinade" signature. Give me a break. It's boring. It smells good; it's cedarwood and vanilla and a hint of benzoin. The ingredients are quality, the vanilla doesn't come off too sugary or bland, it has depth and character. But it's just redundant. If you like spicy/resinous like me, go for Bois d'Armenie (unfortunately discontinued though); if you like slightly powdery/floral, go for Cuir Beluga (the name has nothing to do with the scent, it is a powdery vanilla); and if you want it more straight-up gourmand (the most boring of the three in my opinion), SDV is the one for you.
