I am a great L'Heure Bleue admirer and an even greater Guerlain devotee, and I was very, very critical of a fragrant interpretation of this classic little treasure. What was the point, why and -OH HORROR- surely they weren't going to discontinue production of the original...?
Today I finally had the chance to spray the fragrance. First sniff... Guerlain DNA! Unmistakable. Wonderfully reminiscent of orange blossom, airy and sweet. After about an hour, I think I can perceive my beloved Guerlinade in ethereal form. Soft and beautiful. An airy, powdery iris sweetness. As though the particles of a luxurious body powder were dancing in the evening sunlight of a Mediterranean residence.
After another hour, there was sunlight on tanned skin. Warm, skin-like, powdery, very close, softly shimmering. Delphine Jelk has delivered and yes! We absolutely need this interpretation of the original idea behind L'Heure Bleue. Guerlain's wonderfully unique olfactory romanticism could not have been transported into 2026 any better.
For example, I can’t smell it on my skin at all. After about an hour and a half, there was just a brief hint of something green with a certain crispness.
That’s beautifully written…
Now I’ll have to see how I get on with this new creation.
So much criticism, such emphatic praise… well.
I hope I don’t feel the same way as I did about Chanel’s latest fragrance, where they also polished up-or reinterpreted-an “old familiar name”…
Thanks anyway; I enjoyed reading it.
Many thanks for the kind words ☺️ I really had to let go of expecting anything remotely LHB-like-impossible anyway, in my opinion. Under a different name, the fragrance would be just as beautiful.
That’s it-I’m sold. With this fantastic description, you’ve finally convinced me that I urgently need a decant, or I’ll burst with curiosity. 😅 Somewhere in this universe, a small free sample is already on its way to me, but I just can’t wait any longer. 😂
Thanks for your reply. That’s exactly how I felt before I tried it, and now I’m unfortunately €160 poorer 😅. Let me know how LHB works for you when you get a chance.
