Shalimar L'Essence Guerlain 2025

Unfortunately, another fragrance that has immediately captured my heart... striving for reduction and minimalism, my sample arrived yesterday. Once sprayed, I knew right away, a powdery, vanillic scent that is very harmonious. There is no maybe about it. For me, it has nothing at all to do with the original Shalimar, which my former colleague wore as her signature scent starting in November. I personally do not perceive a leathery note. Powdery vanilla that lays on the skin like velvet. No vintage vibes. A hint of bergamot can be sensed. A perfect candidate for the time starting in November. You come home frozen and look forward to a warm bath, your favorite blanket on the couch. Vanilla remains the star here. It may be that die-hard Shalimar fans find this version too simplistic. I actually like this straightforwardness. Currently, I love powdery vanilla scents. Still, I will let my mind take over... whether I really need a bottle after the sample... you will see or not.
