Why so dangerous you might ask? Because of the price. This extrait is pure beauty, at least in my eyes, and the high price is scary in comparison with how good thins extrait is. For tonka bean lovers, this is one that cannot be passed up, as it is the perfect representation of tonka as a singular note. When I wore this I smelled a very dense, syrupy, yet somehow powdery tonka note that was enveloped in a strange but welcome spicy note and a bit of a smokiness to it as well. After it's had a chance to dry and develop you're left with a spiced vanilla and just a touch of almond. It's soft and decadent, and extremely beautiful. It's certainly clear that this extrait has more than just tonka present, even without using the listed notes as a reference, as there is a ton of depth here for something that is marketed as being so simple. I do feel like it has quite a bit of similarity to Shalimar Millesime Tonka, though of course without any of the Shalimar DNA. So, for those who are missing Millesime Tonka already, perhaps this could be a good (but expensive) alternative.
Out of the 6 extraits from this collection, this one is my favorite (so far) due to the sheer expertise of the composition here. Like I said, for being marketed as such a simple and linear scent, this extrait has a lot of depth and character to it, more so than Rose Centifolia 1, which I have also been able to test. Both have been great, but Tonka Sarrapia 75 will likely remain my favorite. I'm excited to see how the rest of the collection compares to this.
