No cinnamon to my nose
I purchased my bottle of Z14 through a discounter about a year ago. This was my first wear. I found it interesting that Tom Ford's discontinued Italian Cypress is suggested as similar. Side story - I already sampled Alexandria Fragrances' Italian Forest which is a dupe of Italian Cypress. (I've never smelled Italian Cypress.) I liked the dupe a lot and was planning on buying a bottle, but am glad I haven't yet. IMO Z14 is the superior fragrance. What I specifically liked about Z14 is the very strong citrusy opening along with the cypress. These two notes hang on for quite some time, with the citrus especially adding a very fresh feel to the fragrance. It's a lot brighter and fresher than Italian Forest. In the far dry down - after about 4 hours - Z14 and Italian Forest are about 95% identical. Although Z14 is fresher, it's strong enough to be used anytime of the year, even in cold weather. I think it will really shine in summer though.
Z14's longevity is very good. I got about 10 hours out of it and it was still a good skin scent at that time. Sillage is more moderate after the first half hour. You won't fumigate a room with Z14.
Regarding the cinnamon note. I've read reviews at different perfume sites and seen some YouTube videos. From what I gather, the original Z14 did not have a strong cinnamon note. AF's Italian Forest does not have that either. Apparently, there was a reformulation of Z14 at some point which added strong cinnamon but then a more recent batch has removed the strong cinnamon and brought it back to be more like its original scent. I must have the most recent batch because I do not pick up strong cinnamon at all. In fact, I hardly detect any cinnamon.
I really like Z14 now and will not be getting that bottle of Italian Forest. It's also a bargain - $19.00 at discounters for 125ml.
