Mediterranean lightness

Bergamot, lemon and mandarin plus a heart of citrus flowers. Very pleasant, refreshing, just slightly acquatic. Very poor staying-power. "Collection D'Eté" is a holiday companion, light and airy, strictly a summer relaxer. It would be much better if it was more tenacious, but I suppose that perfumer Francis Kurdijan was working on a very tight budget when he created this new Yves Rocher scent. The Mediterranean motive is achieved by a minimum of ingredients. Nice work.

Bonbon Water

The opening of Collection Été is pleasantly citrusy fruity fresh. Unfortunately, a synthetically sweet candy accord quickly joins in, which does not fit the scent profile at all. Even the subtly woody hints in the base cannot really compete with this candy note. The longevity is a joke; after a maximum of 1 hour, it's all over. The sillage is good at first but fades quite quickly to a skin scent. One would have hoped for a bit more from Mr. Kurkdjian.

Yesterday it was so oppressively hot that only an urgent doctor's appointment drove us into the sultry city.
I had applied the heat-tested Flower Tag, but even this light, refreshing scent was too dominant in the dusty, dry streets.
However, my husband headed towards the Rocher store to buy his favorite shampoo.
There, a little box caught my eye, featuring a summer scene that reminded me of the Sicilian town of Taormina. A sandy staircase leads between lush flowers and under shady pines directly to the sparkling blue sea.
And the fragrance perfectly reflects this image.
Bergamot, lemon, and mandarin are fresh and fruity - and the citrus blossom wafts brightly and coolly above.
Right into my heated face. Very pleasant and light.
The woody notes do not weigh down the feather-light scent; they simply add a subtle hint of spice - of pine and cypress.
One wants to step into the illustration on the box and continue to enjoy the Mediterranean breeze right there.
Once again, a fine, fitting Rocher fragrance - and at a fair price.

A Little Summer Refreshment in the Vegetable Garden

I was visiting my parents in the countryside for a few days. Both are over seventy. My mother is still quite fit and sprightly, as they say. She moves around a lot and works hard in the garden. It can be tiring, but as long as she enjoys it. My father had a stroke a year and a half ago and has been physically limited since then. He can walk a few steps, can get up, but he gets tired quite quickly and prefers to sit in his wheelchair most of the time. Thankfully, my brother helps my mother since he lives nearby.
This time it was my turn to help, and it went quite well. In addition, I have a patch in my parents' garden to tend to, and this time there was particularly a lot of work to do. Weeding, thinning my carrots... (I planted 10 different old varieties).
I live in the city and enjoy gardening as a balance, even if it sometimes involves a bit of sweat.
And that's exactly why I had to bring a light so-called summer fragrance with me. I decided to take the Collection Ete by Yves Rocher. I didn't plan to go out anyway, so it was perfect. Summer fragrances are usually simple, and this one is no different. The delicate scent in the pretty turquoise blue bottle with yellowish accents immediately reveals its summery character.
Collection Ete begins with a fresh breeze of citrusy delicate notes, a bit of bergamot and fine mandarins. A light floral aspect drifts over the gentle, not too sour citrus notes. I could suspect a hint of subtly dosed jasmine in there. I can't say how lemon blossoms smell, but they are supposedly included. Maybe those are the lemon blossoms that smell slightly like jasmine to me? In the end, a very delicate yet "sparkling" woodiness joins in, reminding me of cedar. Somehow it reminds me of a much softer, lighter Olympea in terms of scent impression. Just much lighter, like a L`Eau version or a body splash. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a scent twin. But there is a certain similarity in that direction. Unfortunately, it doesn't last very long, but I generously allow myself to reapply. Collection Ete is a nice scent that I don't necessarily need to have, but at least I always smelled good while gardening, even though I had to reapply several times. With these affordable summer scents, that doesn't bother me. By the way, while gardening, I discovered that flax flowers smell very good (I need to check if there are fragrances made with them).

Beautiful Summer Scent!

I recently wrote a comment about L'Eau d'Issey Absolue by Issey Miyake, which I found too artificial. This one smells very similar but is much more natural and develops wonderfully on my skin!! For me, it is the better fragrance. Since it is an Eau de Toilette, the longevity is understandably not very long, but I don't expect that.. maybe about four hours. However, the scent develops in a natural way. It starts off rather woody, citrusy, rounded off with bergamot. The citrus blossom smells more like jasmine to me. Perhaps my nose isn't good enough in this regard.. In any case, the scent becomes softer the longer it is on the skin...

Conclusion: a airy, light summer scent for vacation, for beach walks in a white blouse and a large sun hat...beautiful!

Yves Rocher is really worthwhile for my nose at the moment.. I really like it!!
