Thanks to the dear Seymour for the sample! This allowed me to enjoy testing both versions in direct comparison! The 2000 version received a full 100% from me without any reservations and has been on my wish list ever since. I believe it will stay there for a while, especially considering the eBay prices. Therefore, my great hope was fully placed on the 2014 version... or on the EDP. The 2000 version was, for me, an almost perfect fragrance that I found nothing to improve upon. It is THE clean scent par excellence!!!
I'll keep it short, the 2014 version is almost identical to me, there are only 2 points that stood out in comparison: The 2014 version is milder and softer in the top notes, not quite as piercing as the 2000 version, which I actually liked about the 2000 version. The 2014 version is a tad less fresh... it has become a bit more floral, which has rounded off the mini edges in the top notes. However, the scent and development have remained the same for me... it is still wonderfully fresh, soapy, creamy... so everything as before! A fragrance that MUST be in every man's collection! The second thing I noticed is its slightly lower longevity, which costs it the highest rating, but for me, it is still easily a 95% candidate and will definitely find a place in my collection, but only after I have tested the EDP! For me, it is a cologne that I would always and easily prefer over the Guerlain Ideal Homme EDC and Eau Sauvage EDC... although both are quite good fragrances.
Exactly this vanilla, which is now found everywhere and is supposed to smooth out all edges, ultimately makes the original so unique... for me, the better HL.
