Freshie with intrigue
Sampling Hendley Perfumes Jupiter, a re-release from the 2019 laboratory Series (#3), a freshie with distinction, a blend whose full note list merits including: bergamot, red mandarin, neroli, vanilla, cedar, musk, and ambergris. It has the citric/neroli/musk freshness but with some heft, the vanilla/cedar/ambergris providing a sort of dense, woody base that’s not especially sweet or sharp. It feels very balanced, overall.
I regard as a freshie with some heft and intrigue, meaning that while it’s surely agreeable, the fresher notes are prominent, and it feels more appropriate in the warmer weather, it nevertheless feels well-crafted, with some depth and decent performance.
The concentration is EDT and the pricing is lower than most of the line, at $160/85/55 for 100/50/30ml, fitting due to the lower concentration and more moderate performance, still better than most designer freshies but noticeably different from some of the darker concoctions in EDP or extrait concentration.
I think it’s quite great and will try it again, but I think a bottle is in my future.
