Dirty Hinoki Heretic 2021

When I describe scents, I usually connect them with something I have smelled in real life or with a memory.

I don't think I'm a very imaginative person. Even when I read books, I prefer non-fiction. But when I smell "Dirty Hinoki | Heretic," I somehow can't think of any natural scenes to compare it to.
Unless I break the scent down into individual notes. But even then, it is very difficult.

Firstly, there is nothing "dirty" here. It is sweet, woody, resinous, and yet slightly green. Like thick pine sap drizzled over a warm lemon cake and sprinkled with freshly picked pine needles.

When I smell it, I imagine a pine forest in a fairy tale, and in the middle stands a small wooden cabin. It is a winter evening, very cold, dark, and I am alone. The snow is smooth, thick, clean. I walk towards this wooden cabin, and as I get closer, I see that the chimney is smoking. And the cabin is empty. I checked, the door is unlocked! I enter the cabin, and immediately I smell something sweet baking in the oven. It is a lemon cake! How cozy this little cabin is!

It reminds me a lot of a scented candle. Specifically, Evergreen Mist by Yankee Candle, hahaha. One of my favorite scented candles. So if you have smelled this candle, then you know how this perfume smells.

Otherwise, I would suggest Hwyl or "Monocle Scent One: Hinoki | Comme des Garçons," but without the smokiness, and adding a bit of sweetness.

The H/S could be better. I can smell it for about 4 hours, with moderate sillage. But it seems to be a trend with these types of pine/Hinoki-inspired scents that they don't last very long.

I would particularly wear it in the colder months. It really brings out the resin of the pine.

If you like Hwyl or "Monocle Scent One: Hinoki | Comme des Garçons," I am quite sure that you will at least find Dirty Hinoki interesting!
