This fragrance is unlike anything I have ever found before. It starts with intense petrichor and cypriol: freshly turned, wet earth with sharp greenery which settles into a softer rain scent, like condensation on plants on a foggy morning.
The lilac is not very noticeable for me, but the violet is a real hero in this melancholy tale. Last summer I made a syrup using wild violets picked fresh from my yard and the violet in this smells JUST like the fresh wild violets in that syrup. The violet has been called an "aromatic phantom" and it certainly does that name justice in Nosferatu. Just like the fragrance's namesake, the violet comes and goes sporadically, like an apparition that floats through your window and just as quickly disappears. But not to worry, you know it will return when you least expect it. Got whiffs of violet throughout the day and it was a nice little reminder that it was still there.
The labdanum and oud add depth and give an almost mineral-like quality like old broken stone steps, giving the fragrance a unique scent that mingles really well with the petrichor notes and cypriol and really makes you feel like you're outside on a brisk February morning.
I really enjoy this scent, but find it is a bit too sharp for me to wear alone, so I wear it with something that can provide a creamy or lactonic base to take the edge off. Heretic's perfumes are also natural fragrances so they tend to not last as long as synthetic perfumes do. With this one, an application in the morning and again in the afternoon worked best for me.
