Slipped into the Duel for the Rose Crown
It was a rose war. I have omitted 3rd place and am now adding it.
He is the freshest of all three and is said to contain no rose? Not true. Loud rose through and through without thorns.
What was missing? A warm base. It ends up in a floral mix. Otherwise, 90% the same as the competitors. Mr. Gambs' creation is also clearly recommended and had the greatest sillage. Unfortunately, it also had a somewhat chemical note in the top.
See 1st and 2nd place below.
Edit: I have struggled with rose scents for years. Most of the time, I get headaches or feel like an old lady. Rose is unmanly, my wife always tells me. Except with oud. So the wood is masculine and the flower feminine? One can argue about that.
Red roses. That always has something mature and is no longer so hip for the youngsters.
Let's be honest.
Fresh rose scents are sparse and rarely really good or mixed with other flowers. Diptyque makes an exception with Eau Rose.
The "mature" rose scents where durability and quality can still be sniffed out, there are already several, but unfortunately also unpleasant representatives.
Two absolute highlights that no rose fan should miss are these two, which are very similar.
Today in my duel:
Rosa Moceniga by The Merchant Of Venice Vs. (against) Essences Insensées (2016) by Diptyque.
Both are for me authentic rose scents as if freshly pressed from the leaf and embedded in amber or honey to make them last longer. It’s all very feminine! But I wear them from time to time and receive the finest compliments. Both are eternally lasting on the skin and radiate throughout the room without ever being intrusive. That’s something a manufacturer has to achieve. Bravo.
Rosa Moceniga is more on a vanilla bed and appears fresher, while Diptyque is clearly golden warm honey.
Who wins now?
Very, very narrowly Diptyque. It lasted longer and feels a bit wilder and deeper.
Test it yourself. Men too, please!
