Signs and Wonders

Purchased in the 15ml miniature as a sort of bonus with another fragrance. After the rather mediocre reviews here, I had already written it off - and planned to offer it immediately in the souk, maybe a curious perfume lover would pick it up.

But miracles still happen, I am positively surprised.

Yes, peach, yes, slightly fermented, yes, a bit cloying, but 1969 doesn’t get sticky and can just about pass as unisex. Cardamom and a bit of clove add spice (I believe that’s where this fermentation quality comes from), the flowers hold back ...

But the biggest surprise for me is the coffee. In the drydown, it’s a slightly unripe greenish spiced coffee with a hint of fruit.
Chocolate and musk support as warming ingredients, I can hardly smell patchouli.

I have unsuccessfully tried a few coffee fragrances, many are too gourmand for me: Kilian's Intoxicated is wonderfully made, but too heavy for me in the long run, Olfactive Studio's Close Up is a bit fresher, but too cherry-sweet.
I found A*Men too sugary back when it was launched. For others, sure ... whoever can handle it. But not on me. However, it did spark my interest in coffee as a prominent fragrance ingredient.

And now this nice surprise, I wouldn’t have expected the coffee to be so noticeable, subjective perception always takes unexpected turns.

1969 lasts long, becomes more pleasant with the hours and doesn’t push itself too much (probably still inappropriate for work, but that would need to be checked).

Conclusion: Not a masterpiece, but also not a grab into the expected fermentation bucket.

I don't find it patchouli-heavy at all. I get cedar. And sandalwood. And coffee, but subtly. I don't think it's bad.

I'm a year older than you, so I expected more patchouli, and that's why I completely left out the reference to Revolte. But 1969 still got to me in its own way ;-)

The scent was called Parfum de la révolution. Referring to 1969 and the hippie revolution. Coincidentally, that's also my birth year, which explains quite a bit about me!.. ;) Very beautiful but unusual patchouli scent. I like it!
