Have You Prayed to the Night, Desdemona?

Thanks to Gandix, I have been on a journey of discovery in the fascinating world of fragrance creations by the brand Ikiryō for a few weeks now.
And so this evening, I dedicate myself to “Othello”; I take my time to understand the sense and words, following the scent notes on the trails of their development.
What dark passions reveal themselves to the senses immediately in the first moment of acquaintance.
Is the impending doom already present in the fragrance composition?

Only a few spritzes of the fragrance from the “These Miscegenic Three” series lead the way into the dark and mysterious; a torch would be the perfect companion here!
Each individual scent note carries the attribute “Black,” and what is not inherently black, like the dark blue, gray-ripened sloe berries, is quickly overshadowed.

Dahlias have always had a certain scent of transience, of farewell for me since childhood; no matter how different and friendly they may be in color and shape.
Perhaps because my grandmother always cut a large bouquet of dahlias for my mother at the end of my summer vacation weeks with her, just before we made our way along the highway to the tram terminus?
Dahlias and the scent of damp newspaper in which they were wrapped thus meant farewell for me: farewell to the freedom in the garden, farewell to summer, and possibly also farewell to a very special chapter of childhood.

Dark dahlias (they are certainly not black, more likely deep blue-red, red-blue, or dark violet), accompanied by the spicy aroma of black pepper, draw a first fiery scent trail across my skin.
Fruity, sour, and slightly bitter, the sloe leaves a typical, slightly fuzzy note there.
Who hides the poison cup in the wide folds of his garment?
Or have I lost myself in the dramas of William Shakespeare?
Whatever the case: At this point in the scent development, a slight shiver overtakes me!
Do I let the further unfold or do I choose warm water and soap?
Of course, I stick to it: “Coward, take a coward's hand!” wrote Johannes Mario Simmel, and this memory gives me courage!
Cool fir green with first hints of resin envelops me in the next steps (Is someone following me?), before I am surrounded by the heaviness of animalic-spicy oud:
Now the fire of passion flickers in this fragrance creation, its flames seem to lick at my now hot, slightly vibrating skin, my awake senses:
Will they burn me?
Dark-resinous, rich clouds of smoky-aromatic amber approach: protective and at the same time messengers of the impending doom.
Almost black-glowing passion and dark red burning jealousy have time to develop in the scent progression; they finally take shape.

Gloom, magic created from scent, envelops the man who suffers hellish pain under the glow of his passion, his jealousy.
I suffer along, bathed in fragrance, and thus this brilliant composition builds to a climax under the already mentioned final chords of black amber: It is too late to escape!
Captured by the dark mystery of this opus, I believe I hear a heart-wrenching voice.
We all know the words that follow:
“Have You Prayed to the Night, Desdemona?”

Did you pray to the night, Desdemona? I hope you can sleep tonight 🙈🤣. That was quite thrilling and exciting. I feel a bit the same way, just that I don’t find words for it as often. 🤗

That sounds so lovely from you!
I found the scent uncomfortably sweet and cheesy, and it actually made me gag. Overall, this brand just doesn't work for me.

So let's celebrate: "Vive la difference!"
You know by now that my skin and I are a bit peculiar.😉
Thank you for reading!

What a great piece! My heart is still racing, even though I know how it ends. And Desdemona's only mistake was that she was too good for this world. Ah...

Why not take on a few more plays and turn them into short stories? You have a real talent for it!

Unfortunately, just 3 points for me. 🤷🏼 The brand just doesn’t work for me at all.

Then maybe you should just stay away from it: I can imagine that would be extremely frustrating!

Once again beautifully expressed. I found this one appealing, which isn't the case for many Ikiryos for me.

I think you have to give them time; listen to them.
I don't always manage that either, and I have to seize the moment when the words come to me.
Thank you so much: Your praise means a lot to me!
