In the Dark - and Everything is Clear...
When they offered you the promotion to leadership, you were delighted. It means not only a lot of personnel responsibility but also strategic power to shape.
Finally being seen, not always standing in the background. And D. has followed you to the new location. Your rose. You love her more than anything. The scent of her skin when you make love, her sweet breath when she sleeps…
But now everything is different. There are rivalries and envy in your team. It gnaws at you. But even worse, D. seems to have started something with C., of all people, the one you trusted and whose development you wanted to promote… You cannot bear this double betrayal. It not only turns your love into a lie and you into a laughingstock, but the disloyalty could lead your entire team into catastrophe. You are completely aware of its consequences, frighteningly clear. You are not insane, as some will later claim. Everything is absolutely clear to you here in the dark. The sweetness, the love, the betrayal.
You look at D. as she sleeps. No, you cannot hurt this beautiful body… You put the weapon aside. But you have to do it. Otherwise, the betrayal will continue to spread and destroy even more. And you are filled with terrible sorrow and certainty that it will be irrevocable. A extinguished light can be reignited, but her life light never again. D., your beautiful rose, will never bloom and scent for you again, no matter how much you wish it, you know that already. And yet…
Be thus when thou art dead, and I will kill thee,
And love thee after. One more, and this the last.

A perfume from 2018 explains to me a tragedy from 1604. But of course, that is not a reason to wear the scent.
The darkness of this fragrance is just like Othello's spirit, not hazy; it is all dark, but frighteningly beautiful and clear. Othello speaks completely seriously about murdering his wife, and yet his images and language are extremely poetic. A hint at the emotional state, the intensity of love that Othello feels for Desdemona, and what is at stake for him.
Oud and sloe create an exciting sweet-sour-animalic beginning. Added to this are amber, dark dahlia, black pepper, and very beautifully perceptible to me, the black spruce, which adds and strengthens this dark kind of clarity. I soon perceive all of this simultaneously. In frightening clarity and calm.
The scent changes little for me, so I experience it differently than some here have so far. I perceive it as a snapshot of this reflection before the act, a moment when everything collides, everything is there at once. Infinite love, remembered and disappointed hope, betrayal, jealousy, fear. Everything in the dark. And absolutely clear.
And this moment lasts forever. The scent lasts a long time for me.
Great!
Thanks to @Can777 for the decant!
