In the Dark - and Everything is Clear...
When they offered you the promotion to leadership, you were delighted. It means not only a lot of personnel responsibility but also strategic power to shape.
Finally being seen, not always standing in the background. And D. has followed you to the new location. Your rose. You love her more than anything. The scent of her skin when you make love, her sweet breath when she sleeps…
But now everything is different. There are rivalries and envy in your team. It gnaws at you. But even worse, D. seems to have started something with C., of all people, the one you trusted and whose development you wanted to promote… You cannot bear this double betrayal. It not only turns your love into a lie and you into a laughingstock, but the disloyalty could lead your entire team into catastrophe. You are completely aware of its consequences, frighteningly clear. You are not insane, as some will later claim. Everything is absolutely clear to you here in the dark. The sweetness, the love, the betrayal.
You look at D. as she sleeps. No, you cannot hurt this beautiful body… You put the weapon aside. But you have to do it. Otherwise, the betrayal will continue to spread and destroy even more. And you are filled with terrible sorrow and certainty that it will be irrevocable. A extinguished light can be reignited, but her life light never again. D., your beautiful rose, will never bloom and scent for you again, no matter how much you wish it, you know that already. And yet…

Be thus when thou art dead, and I will kill thee,
And love thee after. One more, and this the last.
-----
A perfume from 2018 explains to me a tragedy from 1604. But of course, that is not a reason to wear the scent.
The darkness of this fragrance is just like Othello's spirit, not hazy; it is all dark, but frighteningly beautiful and clear. Othello speaks completely seriously about murdering his wife, and yet his images and language are extremely poetic. A hint at the emotional state, the intensity of love that Othello feels for Desdemona, and what is at stake for him.
Oud and sloe create an exciting sweet-sour-animalic beginning. Added to this are amber, dark dahlia, black pepper, and very beautifully perceptible to me, the black spruce, which adds and strengthens this dark kind of clarity. I soon perceive all of this simultaneously. In frightening clarity and calm.

The scent changes little for me, so I experience it differently than some here have so far. I perceive it as a snapshot of this reflection before the act, a moment when everything collides, everything is there at once. Infinite love, remembered and disappointed hope, betrayal, jealousy, fear. Everything in the dark. And absolutely clear.
And this moment lasts forever. The scent lasts a long time for me.

Great!

Thanks to @Can777 for the decant!

Have You Prayed to the Night, Desdemona?
Thanks to Gandix, I have been on a journey of discovery in the fascinating world of fragrance creations by the brand Ikiryō for a few weeks now.
And so this evening, I dedicate myself to “Othello”; I take my time to understand the sense and words, following the scent notes on the trails of their development.
What dark passions reveal themselves to the senses immediately in the first moment of acquaintance.
Is the impending doom already present in the fragrance composition?

Only a few spritzes of the fragrance from the “These Miscegenic Three” series lead the way into the dark and mysterious; a torch would be the perfect companion here!
Each individual scent note carries the attribute “Black,” and what is not inherently black, like the dark blue, gray-ripened sloe berries, is quickly overshadowed.

Dahlias have always had a certain scent of transience, of farewell for me since childhood; no matter how different and friendly they may be in color and shape.
Perhaps because my grandmother always cut a large bouquet of dahlias for my mother at the end of my summer vacation weeks with her, just before we made our way along the highway to the tram terminus?
Dahlias and the scent of damp newspaper in which they were wrapped thus meant farewell for me: farewell to the freedom in the garden, farewell to summer, and possibly also farewell to a very special chapter of childhood.

Dark dahlias (they are certainly not black, more likely deep blue-red, red-blue, or dark violet), accompanied by the spicy aroma of black pepper, draw a first fiery scent trail across my skin.
Fruity, sour, and slightly bitter, the sloe leaves a typical, slightly fuzzy note there.
Who hides the poison cup in the wide folds of his garment?
Or have I lost myself in the dramas of William Shakespeare?
Whatever the case: At this point in the scent development, a slight shiver overtakes me!
Do I let the further unfold or do I choose warm water and soap?
Of course, I stick to it: “Coward, take a coward's hand!” wrote Johannes Mario Simmel, and this memory gives me courage!
Cool fir green with first hints of resin envelops me in the next steps (Is someone following me?), before I am surrounded by the heaviness of animalic-spicy oud:
Now the fire of passion flickers in this fragrance creation, its flames seem to lick at my now hot, slightly vibrating skin, my awake senses:
Will they burn me?
Dark-resinous, rich clouds of smoky-aromatic amber approach: protective and at the same time messengers of the impending doom.
Almost black-glowing passion and dark red burning jealousy have time to develop in the scent progression; they finally take shape.

Gloom, magic created from scent, envelops the man who suffers hellish pain under the glow of his passion, his jealousy.
I suffer along, bathed in fragrance, and thus this brilliant composition builds to a climax under the already mentioned final chords of black amber: It is too late to escape!
Captured by the dark mystery of this opus, I believe I hear a heart-wrenching voice.
We all know the words that follow:
“Have You Prayed to the Night, Desdemona?”

Lustful darkness
Lustful darkness, this is the best way to describe Othello. It is one of the latest works from Ikiryo, or better said, from Vincent Dreamhouse. He is the man behind Ikiryo. A multi-talent and a one-man show. Vincent masters a variety of talents. He studied haute couture and is a trained tailor and costume designer. All the costumes visible on his perfume website were made by him, as well as the make-up, hairstyles, background, choreography, and computer animations. He is a writer and creates novels and stories for his fragrances, does the photo series for them, and lovingly handcrafts each packaging. The packaging is almost iconically beautiful to behold. Each bottle and each package is essentially a unique piece and something very personal for the owner. All of his fragrant stories are delivered sealed with a kind of wax seal, which is broken by its new owner. This, I believe, is a very nice ritual that makes the fragrance even more personal.

The word Ikiryo comes from Japanese and is the term for the astral spirit of a living person. An Ikiryo symbolizes the aura or the doppelgänger that every person carries with them and that communicates with other Ikiryos without us being able to hear or know it.

The fragrance
All the fragrance notes in Othello carry the designation "black" at the forefront. Othello is a dark fragrance through and through. It starts with an almost piercing fruity and medicinal presence, which dissipates within seconds. Then it begins to turn dark. The black sloe is the first fragrance note that can be recognized. Initially fruity-fresh, it quickly transforms into a kind of sloe liqueur, accompanied by dark floral notes. In this case, the black dahlia, which reminds me a bit of a slightly sweet orchid with its scent. Othello lingers in this state for quite a while. Then it begins to become spicy and woody.
Black oud in combination with spicy nuances from black pepper gives Othello depth and substance. It should also be mentioned that the oud here merely underscores the woody character and not so much the animalistic one. A warm, resinous black amber ultimately refines Othello and gives it a dark-smoky yet warm facet of bitter-sweet melancholy.

Conclusion
Othello is a romantically obscure fragrance and by no means cheerful and bright in its projection. A perfume that, like its namesake, exudes an alluring melancholy and attraction. He is the dark part of the constellation. The counterpart to this, Desdemona, is the bright part. She is included in the fragrance set along with the "mixing." By the way, all the fragrance notes in Desdemona are kept white. No matter which fragrance you acquire, the two other corresponding fragrances are always included in a smaller rollerball format. So, in a way, you get three fragrances in the set. All can be mixed together or worn individually.

Eccentricity is Vincent Dreamhouse's second name, and God knows, his fragrant stories are eccentric as well. Unusual fragrance notes and artistically bold combinations characterize him. In San Francisco and the rest of America, he is already well-known and highly regarded in the artist scene. By the way, all the female performers on his bottles, packaging, and accompanying photo stories are very well-known burlesque dancers. The performer on the so-called "Pandora Box" of Othello is Vincent Dreamhouse himself as Othello.

"Not fragrances for men, not fragrances for women...but fragrances for a man and fragrances for a woman"
- Vincent Dreamhouse -

Animalic and spicy and resinous.

Quite intense and oily, woody amber, a dark temptation; takes a few moments to reveal its full essence. Balsamic.

Exciting! Ethereal-cool spicy misty forest. At first, a slight leafy twist with a bitter fruity note, later earthy and warm.

Between urinous and fecal in the opening and sweet resin in the heart and base. Who needs this? I'm a bit puzzled.
