Best Poseidon from my Collection

Before I get started, I want to mention a few things:

1. I have almost a year of experience with the fragrance world by the time I'm writing this review.
2. I don't have the best nose for picking individual notes and the ones that I'm not familiar with, especially in winter.
3. The bottle that I have doesn't present any issues with the scent, the projectiona and the longevity, unlike the other bottles that I received around the same time as this one.

The Context

This is the last fragrance that I have from Instituto Espanol from the batch that I received around a few years ago. In that batch were the other Poseidon fragrances, the Essential by Lacoste and a bootleg of Ultra Male by Jean Paul Gaultier. And unlike the other Poseidon fragrances this one has the best conditions and scent out of all of them. It doesn’t have problems with the scent, the performance and the projection whatsoever.

The Scent

This is a spicy, sweet and woody fragrance with a strong on the Original Paco Rubanne 1 million. Every single note, from the grapefruit, to the cinnamon and the rose it’s really easy to detect and the drydown makes this fragrance even mode intense then in the opening because of the cinnamon with the rose, patchouli and the blonde leather. Back when I started to understand how the drydowns work I always thought that this is a linear scent profile and what you start with it’s what you finish. Only in the late spring I detected the leather and the grapefruit more accurately. For me, this is what a typical middle east fragrance will smell, a strong spicy and sweet fragrance that it’s strong from start to finish.

The Projection

For me this is an extended projection, even though it has a concentration of an EDP. Most of the fragrances from this concentration stop at moderate, but this one is in that category of strong projection with strong longevity.

The longevity

I get 6 hours from this fragrance. I get the opening for a few minutes and the drydown goes for the first 3 hours and on the final stage it is a bit more tame and more inclined towards a woodsy and leathery scent.

The Bottle

This is a 125 ml bottle with some simple and amateurish writing towards the borrow with the concentration. I actually have the full golden bottle, not the black one, and it can mirror objects into its shape, like those weird mirrors in the carnivals.

The Perfumer

Like the other Poseidon fragrances, this has no perfumer listed, but dang it he or she did a great job on remaking 1 million and cutting that over the top sweetness component.

Conclusions

This is the best fragrance that I have from Instituto Espanol, a take on 1 million by Paco Rubanne that it’s not overly sweet, it focuses more on the spicy component and smells like a rich amber.

Thank you so much for reading my review. Last review that I made was 2 months ago and I posted it right before I started my college semester, so in the meantime I got busy. But I had at the start of this week a conversation with one of the members of the site about Lacoste Essential and that inspired me to write the rest of the reviews for every fragrance that I have plus the decants and other fragrance that I discovered in each season. Next, I will write about Pour un Homme de Caron, my favorite fragrance for the first half of the year.
