Recently sprayed it at Douglas after reading all the praise for this "fresh" scent.
However, what I get is only a very strongly synthetic freshness in my nose, I can't describe exactly what it smells like. The biggest issue, though, is that it, at least on my skin, directly reminded me of urine! Not extremely, I don't think I peed myself, but in the background, there is always a vibe that reminds me extremely of urine! Extremely unpleasant and negatively surprising... not for me...
Issey Miyake lost his parents to the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. Since then, he has focused solely on beautiful things, like L'Eau D'Issey. The fragrance rating seems a bit harsh to me. Very few scents last 25 years.
I had a similar experience during my first test at the department store. Today I'm wearing it for the second time to test it out. The musty note that comes right after the citrus opening fades quickly, though. After that, it gets better. So far, I have to say: nice summer scent!
"Every skin is a bride" - so if you don't match, that's just how it is with certain fragrances for everyone. Floral scents really go through the roof for me...
There are professions that would probably welcome it if incontinence smelled like L'Eau d'Issey ;-)
It's a shame that the scent messed up its first impression for you so badly that it probably won't get a second chance.
I've noticed this 'urine vibe' in Venezia as well, a very popular women's perfume. But no matter how popular it is, if you perceive it that way, you should be able to say so. Pee trophy! ;)
I would want to weave in some shades of gray between "not much to make of it" and "urine," if that's alright. I think it's misguided to give a devastating urine rating after a short test at D. THIS urine sample is negative.
