I acquired this Jacomo this year. A brand that is unknown to me except for one exception: the original of this fragrance from 1980. This scent is a sweet flanker. The original from 1980 is, for me, the most masculine fragrance I know. So this flanker is quite a stark contrast. This is also confirmed by looking at the fragrance pyramid. I wanted to have this one and ordered it for relatively little money. Similar to all other scents from this brand, it is very affordable. Most can be found for between 20 to 30 euros per 100ml.
The bottles are logically very similar. The Rouge from 2002 is, of course, a bit more modern than the one from 1980. Nice red glass with a gray plastic cap that opens at the push of a button.
Freshly sprayed, it reminds me of the Popeye version of Le Male in a significantly lighter version. Sweet mint, which comes across rather softly. Along with a light cardamom spiciness. The sweet notes are clearly always perceptible. Especially a lovely tonka sweetness that I really like. At times, the scent is also floral, but the sweetness dominates here. Woods also provide a nice gentle touch. A lovely patchouli note joins in. It pairs wonderfully with the sweet notes. Overall, a very harmonious and stylish combination. Pleasant, but probably not something that stands out significantly from the crowd.
The sillage is rather weak when looking at this pyramid. I would have expected more, especially in comparison to the original. It becomes very close to the skin quickly. The longevity is quite good for this price range, lasting several hours.
All in all, I can recommend this scent. Especially for this price, it’s a nice perfume.
