The Quiet One

Since the good treasure hunter has delighted me with samples of chypre treasures, both known and unknown, as well as memories of chypre fragrances I had ages ago, I would also like to share my thoughts on this one.
Here, the name says it all! We are not experiencing a thunderous chypre that requires a gun license. Even with a lot of imagination and goodwill, I cannot recognize any similarity to No 19.
Silences is a dimmed, green floral at the start. Quite nice, I admit. Nothing stands out. Only a few petals have been carefully plucked and added.
No, we do not have a "komachypre" here that even makes polar bears in Alaska freeze the blood in their veins. No cold scent that you wear to say, "Stay away from me!" Ladies,
Silences is not enough as a deterrent; you’ll have to keep pretending to have a headache to your daddy when you're not feeling well. You know what I mean ;-).
Silences is a nice, little, floral chypre. Oh, you always wanted one in your collection or have been afraid of the big, classic bombshells?
Just a reminder: Chypres are the largest fragrance family of all. There are green, floral, fruity, leathery, animalic, and many of you who have previously said, "Eww, chypre!" might have some in your collection without knowing it.
Yes, we have moss in the base, a bit of wood, and a light hint of green vetiver. But I miss something dark, muddy patchouli, something rugged cedar, the elements that give a chypre its zest.
By the way, did you know that patchouli is a plant with pretty pink/lavender flower clusters? Goths would have liked to plant them next to Dracula's coffin. Well, we don’t have any bats here.
I don’t want to judge Silences too harshly, even though it is too bland for me. Still, a recommendation for all those who say, "I would, I’d like to, but I’m too scared..."
In any case, your Flowerbombs from Viktor and Rolf or your sugary gourmands would raise their eyebrows if you placed Silences next to them on the shelf.

Yes, it's a bit more subtle, but that's exactly what I like sometimes, especially in the summer. And I definitely see the parallel to No.19. Well, not the current version, which has been completely stripped of the galbanum.

Then let's have a deep (not shallow) Lady and the Tramp trophy.

It's really well made. But it never made it into my collection. Still, it's pretty..!

Silences has never made it into my top 30 Chypre fragrances, even though I like the brand, the name, the bottle, etc. So it seems I'm in the same boat as you, since you only gave it a 7 as well. Still, it was a good one.

I had that one on my wishlist before, and now, thanks to your description, it's back on there again ;-)

With this fragrance, the name says it all. The pyramid is impressive, but is it really a classic Chypre? Probably not. Honestly, I haven't cared about that for a long time. With the flood of perfumes today, it’s become such a confusing jumble that it’s not even worth discussing anymore.

Sounds great... based on the scent notes, I should like it... it's just that oakmoss can be a bit tricky.

You can't love them all; that would lead to total ruin. The subtle notes suit the fragrance very well, and after all, it's not called Noises :-DD

You have to start somewhere, right? ;-))

Yes, it's nice. I would even wear it. No. 19, on the other hand, was a bit too much for me.

Well, it's definitely not my hunting schedule; I'd rather crawl around next to Dracula's coffin ;-)
