Summer Festival at Earl and Lady Grey
A wonderfully mature floral fragrance that doesn’t feel applied. The scent is not a foreign body on the skin that one adorns oneself with, but rather the wearer herself becomes a radiant and interesting flower.
The fragrance is incredibly complex and harmonious throughout. This blind purchase, after I only knew Ombre Rose and was thrilled by it, has proven to be a true stroke of luck. My expectations were fully met and far exceeded, as my friend, who tends to lump all women's fragrances together as being too strong and too sweet, entered the room after I tested the scent for the first time and curiously asked what smelled so good, and he had a slightly enthusiastic expression on his face, a bit like when Bayern Munich advances in the Champions League :-) That says something!!!
What’s special about Fleurs d'Ombre Rose is that it has absolutely no sweetness...wonderful! The subtle fruitiness gives a little residual sweetness to the floral trio of freesia, jasmine, and rose (I love this combo), which is not perceived as sweetness.
Alongside the mature floral and fruity notes, one scent note plays a very special role: it is bergamot. It makes the fragrance fresh and suitable for summer. It gives the scent that certain something and makes it interesting, distinguishing it from other conventional floral fragrances. The intrinsic aroma is elevated, as one would say in cooking. Since bergamot and also orange are included, the scent reminds me of Earl Grey and Lady Grey tea - I love both varieties.
I don’t perceive the base in terms of scent. Thank goodness I don’t smell sandalwood. Amber and musk allow the fragrance to cling well, even though it is only an EDT. Vetiver is likely responsible for a slightly warming, background sweetness.
The scent has a strong resemblance to Spring Flower by Creed due to the watermelon and also a tiny bit to L'Instant by Guerlain because of the bergamot.
A great fragrance that very few people know and wear. If you’re lucky, you can get it on eBay for about €40 for 100ml EDT; otherwise, it regularly costs easily double that.

Rose, freesia, and jasmine often appear in my favorite fragrances too.
