As an absolute fan of the Elixir, I considered it almost a duty to also own the Elixir Absolu; what could possibly go wrong with such an excellent DNA?
Said - Ordered, picked it up from the post yesterday, and felt the Elixir and the Elixir Absolu on my wrists. At first, I was indeed a bit disappointed, as the scent in the top note didn't differ at all from the Elixir to my nose.
However, with the increasing
heart note, you quickly smell the plum, which makes it appear rounder and takes away the "in-your-face!" projection that the regular Elixir has. The Absolu simply doesn't shout everything together anymore but holds back a bit more, leading me to conclude that it has made its way out of the nightclub and into everyday life. Longevity and sillage are still 10/10.
Conclusion:
If you have the regular Elixir, you don't necessarily need this one. However, if you're looking for an Elixir DNA for everyday use that is simply more pleasant, a bit calmer, and more balanced, then the Elixir Absolu is absolutely right for you. I think the price will gradually adjust to that of a designer fragrance.
