The opening has a fresh, slightly tart quality from the mint. Personally, I think there may also be a bit of citrus in there.
The opening disappears quite quickly, and then the mimosa comes through, giving it a very green, grassy character, accompanied by a light almond sweetness.
In the drydown, the almond becomes more prominent and turns into a creamy, woody accord. Interestingly, I don’t really get a strong nutty almond smell from it. The mimosa continues to linger in the background and keeps that soft green, grassy character alive.
What really surprised me is that I haven’t seen anyone online mention this, but to me it smells quite a bit like Le Labo Santal 33.
It doesn’t really have the usual Le Male DNA at all. Instead, it reminds me more of the kind of trendy Santal 33-inspired fragrances you often find at places like Zara — basically Santal 33 with the leather removed and a greener, grassier feel added to it.
My impression is that JPG didn’t put that much effort into creating something distinctive here. It feels like they found a formula in the general Santal 33 style, knew that type of scent would be popular, and then dressed up the official note breakdown around it.
