Messino edelherb - A little journey into childhood in between
This fragrance needs no associative detours; it is exactly what is stated in the fragrance pyramid - only sugar, flour, and eggs are still missing - .
Barely sprayed, it is immediately there: The blue box of the certain pastry company B. from H., which used to package its slightly more upscale products almost like confectionery.
My grandma hands me a cookie (weren't they round once?), hoping to bribe me with it, as I am only three years old and we are traveling by train from Constance to Kiel!
However, I didn’t like the sticky orange marmalade filling, so I devoured all the available salami sandwiches during the journey; I was probably sitting in piles of butter paper, as there were no plastic bags back then, and I played with the paper rubber bands, “flitschen.” I only remember being very impressed that at every stop, vendors with drinks came directly to the train window..., which must have put a lot of strain on my grandma..., because the “KID!” was so restless... The rest of the journey has, thank goodness, vanished into the twists of my brain, except for the smell of overripe bananas in the compartment.
Opening: Besides the lovely, zesty chocolate-orange note, there is also something subtly leathery and slightly tobacco-like (more like the dried tobacco leaves for a light cigar) to sniff out, so the fragrance, along with the elegant bitter chocolate note, should also suit gentlemen who want to avoid floral notes and would still like something “sweet” and “snuggly” ;-)
The development: Dark chocolate, dark chocolate, dark... with coconut! The orange takes a back seat, only maintaining a fine acidity against the sweetness of the chocolate, which is necessary because the coconut comes on strong and pure, like in macarons.
After 6-7 hours, a mild noble bitter note shines on suede from the skin, with the orange only playing a dot on the “I” to prevent it from becoming sticky. The skin now seems cocoa-dusted.
For me, this would be a typical autumn-winter candidate, as it is thoroughly gourmand, if it weren't for the oily coconut scent. Personally, that is too much of a good thing for me, but for coconut lovers, it is surely a pure delight! And: It doesn’t smell like Christmas, but spicy!
After all: Bitter Orange & Chocolate brings no calories to the scale and is therefore perfect for “in between” :-)

Very nice comment, thank you! - Your description matches my impression exactly. I just prefer a naturally appearing coconut note: in summer "Virgin Island Water," in winter this one! So I rate it at 80%.
