The Biggest Disappointment from Jo Malone So Far
I am a confessed Jo Malone fan... my collection consists of almost 50% Jo Malone and I always look forward to new scents from this brand, as you are usually not disappointed.
I ordered the 30 ml on a whim and it arrived this morning. Full of anticipation, I sprayed a spritz on my wrist and sniffed.
The scent starts off very citrusy, but not elegantly citrusy, rather biting and cheap (the famous toilet duck sends its regards at this point). After a short while, something sweet becomes noticeable, but the piercing citrus scent is still overwhelmingly present and almost soapy. After about 20-30 minutes, the biting lemon slowly fades away and something floral emerges.
From then on, the scent is actually quite nice: powdery soft, somewhat sweet, faintly smelling of peach and a bit floral. The scent is "nice," but unfortunately not special at all and actually too expensive for that. Generally, this could also be a drugstore fragrance.
After this initial testing phase, I sprayed myself generously with Osmanthus Blossom (5-6 sprays on neck and wrist for the extreme test) and I must unfortunately say regarding longevity that it is incredibly weak. Generally, Jo Malone fragrances are rather delicate in nature and have mediocre longevity, so I don't have high expectations, but this scent was already gone after an hour (!) which is unusual even for a Jo Malone fragrance.
To make it short: I am disappointed. I don't know if I am willing to endure 20 minutes of a biting citrus bomb with drugstore scent character until the rather average nice scent appears, which then also disappears shortly after.
Update from 09.05.2013:
It has been bothering me, and I tested Osmanthus Blossom again on my clothing. And indeed, it smells completely different than on my skin. The lemon here is gentle and sweet, and it lasts for several hours. I would have never thought that skin chemistry plays SUCH a big role! I will keep it after all, as I quite like it now, but I will definitely NOT spray it on my skin again.

Thanks for the warning. I trust your judgment on this. Let's hope the scents are better this season! :-)

@joley: I can hardly believe it myself, since I've always been a fan of Jo Malone. But I'm glad you feel differently; hopefully, it's just my skin chemistry and not that Jo Malone has changed their quality.
