Wild Fig & Cassis Jo Malone 2002

Unfortunately, the following comment will hardly say anything about the actual scent. Still interested?

In search of an alternative for the discontinued "Salvatore Ferragamo pour Homme," I came across other fig scents ("Figuer/Fig" by Heeley was too sweet for me, "Philosykos" by Diptyque and "Ninfeo Mio" by Annick Goutal are nice, but not what I'm looking for) and found "Wild Fig & Cassis" by Jo Malone in a Cologne store of the "Türkisen" on Schildergasse, which exclusively sells Jo Malone - one of eight or nine stores in Germany, according to the Jo Malone consultant.
The aura of exclusivity that suddenly surrounds the brand piqued my curiosity, and my nose tested the Cologne concentrations and the Cologne Intense creations.

Then it was "Wild Fig's" turn. It is a fresh, green scent. Ideal for summer, although it is a bit too feminine for me.

However, what was missing from the predecessors in my search for Salvatore is also absent in "Wild Fig & Cassis." It is the unfortunately no longer perceived connection of fig and vetiver that characterized "Salvatore Ferragamo pour Homme."
"That can be helped," said the Jo Malone consultant. She pulled out "Vetyver" from the same brand. "Have you ever layered scents?" No, I hadn't. So: "Wild Fig" and "Vetyver" entered into a symbiosis. One that I initially liked very much. "Vetyver" is spicy and slightly woody. Through "Wild Fig," "Vetyver" becomes fresh. Memories awaken. Salvatore? But then "Vetyver" disappears very quickly, making way for "Wild Fig & Cassis" entirely.

Well then, the search continues.
