That companies are often too timid to launch completely new scents, names, and forms has become a given - yet it still only partially registers in my mind. "Joop Homme Absolute" is another candidate that has little, if anything, to do with its pink predecessor and could have easily been marketed under a new name. No, it must be. For example, under my headline, casual, snappy, and catchy for sweet smoke. Joopies - call me ;-)
Jokes aside, what can this heavy black one do, regardless of the title?! A lot. It convinces me, for instance. And not just me, it seems. "Swo... uh sorry, "Joop Homme Absolute" of course, is a dark representative (oh really) of incense and (peppery) spiciness. Sweet, warm cuddle smoke. Not sticky, rather dignified and earthy. Straightforward and reliable. Certainly a bit boring, but at a high level. It stays true to its line, having only one real fragrance phase. But that phase is nice. Soft and powerful at the same time, hard to describe. Just don’t expect any surprises or development. Campfire, pepper mill, cuddle blanket, autumn, forest, wood, cashmeran. A pleasant mix, homogeneous and monotonous.
Bottle: black & beautiful (albeit a bit bulky)
Sillage: quite flat & close to the skin for me
Longevity: 6 hours and upwards
Conclusion: gentle, beautiful, sweet, and never sticky - a (more than?) solid Joop. Even if it’s not a Joop Homme.
This one has nothing to do with the other Joops that I don't like at all. If it hadn't been for the "NEW" label and the pretty bottle, I would have never tested or bought it... :))
That's exactly why companies prefer to release flankers instead of new fragrances. It saves a lot on marketing...
