Help! A Joop that I actually like again. What do I do now?

Oh dear, I quickly stopped by Douglas on my way home yesterday to test the new Bottega Veneta. According to the internet, it should have been in stock; unfortunately, it wasn't. So I did what I usually do there. I browsed, even though I know the shelves by heart. And at some point, my gaze fell on the new Joop. And although the announcement of this fragrance didn't even trigger a test impulse in me at the time, I thought to myself in that moment: "What the heck? Since you're already here!" So, on goes the wrist, take a deep breath and "Uuh, that doesn't smell bad at all!?"

First and foremost, I clearly perceive the violet. Shortly thereafter, the cardamom unmistakably takes command. Over time, a pleasant sweetness gradually joins in. This fits wonderfully with the cardamom, which continues to dominate and maintains its presence throughout the entire fragrance journey. So don't worry, this is not a typical vanilla/tonka mix like Armani Code.

Overall, the fragrance progression is rather linear. A bit of violet at the beginning, cardamom shortly after until the end, all subtly accompanied by a pleasant sweetness. That's it. Nothing more, and that's just fine.

However, this all seems familiar to me. And as I mentioned in my statement, this fragrance appears to be a mix of "Simply" (violet) and "Strictly Night" (cardamom) by Jil Sander. All fragrances are produced by Coty. A mischievous mind might think something bad about that ;-).

And with that, we come to my only criticism. This fragrance doesn't present anything new. Too little originality, nothing innovative. Even with this very aggressive advertising campaign (exclusive testing at Müller, TV commercial, etc.), I would have wished for more courage.

It seems to me that the manufacturers want to return to more quality. I've noticed increasingly with new releases lately that this scratchy, fully synthetic something in fragrances is not used as frequently anymore.

At the end of the day, it remains a really pleasant fragrance that I like a lot. The bottle is beautifully simple in its design. The longevity is acceptable for me; the sillage is good, and the price is more than fair. Test it for yourself. You'll find that you've smelled worse fragrances.

Best regards
