Musk and I ... a love against nature!?
Yes, I "struggled" to purchase two cheap-looking sprays from the equally cheap brand Jovan. Simply because it has long been associated with the main processing of musk aromas. And of course because of my memory: I primarily associate Jovan with a woman X from the early nineties, with whom I shared a great passion for many years ... animalistic indeed! ;-) I could have bathed in her body scent and ultimately found out that she simply used Jovan. Which scent exactly, I no longer remember, but the selection isn't that vast!
Now the nineties are long gone, and I wouldn't necessarily want to smell this scent on myself, but my curious love for musk has remained. In the right processing and mélange, of course, which is why I like Bulgari pour Homme very much, while I have been struggling with Narciso Rodriguez Bleu Noir for years. As far as I know, musk is usually used to fixate in men's fragrances and is generally not a dominant tone, right?
Sweet, animalistic, powdery, clean - that's how musk is supposed to smell. Although I perceive the powdery aspect much more clearly with iris, and this substrate is now chemically produced in various forms (thankfully). Based solely on the listed ingredients, I would never buy "White Musk for Men" (WM), because I clearly miss the woody, bitter note - especially since I believe it is more of a unisex scent. The musk does not overshadow everything and still has enough strength to revive my memory of woman X.
So it is probably due to sentimentality that I like WM, while the old-fashioned "Musk for Men" reminds me more of classic soap. But that's been around since 1973, and for that, I don't find it so bad. If I set my romantic inclinations aside (scents shape people too), I find WM to be quite a usable and everyday-friendly fragrance that offers a particularly sensual note (musk indeed), which is rarely processed these days ... or at least not in this form.
One searches in vain for pronounced masculinity here, but anyone who, like me, wants to occasionally indulge in fluffy memories of the past will be well served. It is also labeled as a cologne, so a great sillage wasn't to be expected anyway. Just try it out for a tenner ... Jovan introduces you quite well to the "musk world," even if some might find the "Lenor association" drilling into their nose! ;-)

The White Musk felt a bit thin/pale to me during testing. Maybe I should give it another chance. But aren’t the bottles wonderfully tacky? It’s like time stood still...
