Dwelling place of the great spirit
This is what the Native Americans called the mountains when they were asked to describe them to the white settlers of the time. Today they are called Inyo Mountains. Likewise the Inyo National Forest was founded, which has been existing for more than 100 years.

Inyo Mountains have an intoxicatingly large and expansive landscape with everything an adventurer's heart desires. The landscape is rough and barren. There is absolutely no mobile phone network and nowhere a shop to stock up on food.
In return, there are wonderful views, geological fascinations and colours in all facets. There are massive differences in temperature. Depending on the season, it can snow at -5 degrees Celsius up there and in the valley there is sunshine with 15 degrees heat. There are ghost sites and old signs, rusted, yellowed and not exactly testifying to life. Ghost place with ancient buildings, pinyo trees, juniper trees and rocks from small to huge.

Inyo is like a part of this landscape, the forest and the mountains. Barren, leathery, herbaceous, old and spicy.
It actually smells very medically black at first. It comes close to the smell of bitumen when the sun shines hot on the roof. I like this smell, even when roads are paved The creosote bush is an Indian plant that was originally - and perhaps still today - used as an antiseptic or diuretic. Pain-relieving for inflammation or nervous infirmity. According to the Internet, the use of creosote bushes is nowadays used for blood purification and detoxification. It smells resinous, leathery and coarse Inyo becomes cold spicy after the initial "road tarring". Dried green, dry wood, which blooms again as soon as some water comes near. It smells bitter, which is probably due to the desert bastard. This opens its smell only when it gets wet. Bitter and a little bit uncomfortably herbaceous, but never in such a way that you have to turn up your nose.
Inyo is a great adventure scent for men who are not afraid of the extraordinary and would like to smell spicy, woody, earthy As a woman, I prefer to sniff after the man who wears inyo. And I would be thrilled if he took me on an adventure
